What To Expect

Your tour will begin in central Florence, where you’ll join up with your guide and head straight to a local coffee bar. Fuel up with samples of two different roasts and learn about the production process.

Next up, enjoy a true taste of Florence with a truffle pâté sandwich (panino tartufato) at a delicatessen dating back to 1885. Your guide will provide historical commentary and local lore about the passing city sights as you continue to your next haunt.

Wander through the San Lorenzo Market, learning some of the secrets behind fresh Florentine ingredients and recipes. Treat your taste buds to high-end olive oils with crostini, toasted Italian bread, and sweet balsamic vinegars.

Afterward, follow your guide to an enoteca, or local wine shop, to swirl and sip two Tuscan blends, complemented by regional cheeses and meats. Had a great time. We got there early so they asked us if we wanted to start early. Went from coffee to truffles to olive oil and vinegar to pastry to risotto to wine and finished with gelato. Bernadeta was great not only with the food we also got a wonderful history lesson. Highly recommend

We should start by saying we upgraded our tour to a private tour, and are so happy it worked out! We thoroughly enjoyed meeting and spending time with Nadia, our tour guide, who brought us to several charming and off the beaten path enotecas, trattorias and pasticcerias, with lessons at each stop about the food and wine we were tasting and how it was made, from her extensive knowledge such as olive oil, balsamic vinegar, wine and local customs. She also shared some tidbits as we were walking from place to place, which had us understand the culture of Florence even more, and we felt like she had become a friend by the end of the tour. She also left us with a recommendation for a meal in Rome at Trapizzino, which became a highlight of our trip when we arrived a few days later. Thank you so much Nadia!!

Nadia was a fantastic guide for a fantastic introduction to the food and the city of Florence. She took us off the beaten path and we got to have bites at some hidden gems. She was entertaining and insightful, and even gave us some great recommendations for other restaurants to try while in Florence.

Florence's best, and some secrets, too!

This tour was a fantastic, expected, and unexpected treat!! This tour had so much food that you won't need dinner afterward! Christina was our tour guide, and she spoke fluent English. She took us to some of Florence's best and most well-known areas and then showed us some surprises! We have visited Florence several times, but Christina opened a new world. Our favorite spot had to be the wine shop! We stepped into a magical world of wine and history. We were treated to food throughout Florence and introduced to the owners of the shops we visited. The Market was such a wonderful surprise! We would go back to eat from any of the vendors in this building. Christina fed us and told us stories about Florence and the food. This was a fantastic tour made special by our experiences and our guide. We would take this tour again!

Not a "typical guidebook" tour

Cannot say enough great things about our Small Group Florence Walking Tour led by Guido tonight. He led us to multiple non-tourist local spots. Places that you may have walked past on our own, places frequented by locals and not overrun by large groups of tourists. Our progressive meal ended with multiple samples of food and wine - I was stuffed by the end. Guido did a fantastic job not just explaining the food but also linking it back to historical references and cultural traditions for a very well rounded and engaging experience.

We traveled through Italy, Greece and Spain for 22 days in October of 2022. Out of our 15 plus excursions the Small-Group Florence Food Walking Tour was one of the best. The history given and shown to us of Florence was amazing. Our guide was so incredible. The food was so good. We took this tour the first day that we arrived into Florence. We learned so many great tips from shopping to restaurants that were very useful for the remainder of our stay. Florence was my favorite city!

Do This Tour! We did this our first day in Florence and are so glad we did. It gave us a good overview of Florence and helped us get our bearings. And the food! We visited several establishments and sampled tastings, so much so, that by the end of the tour we were actually full. Nora was our guide and she was great. Really learned a lot and enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend

Christiana was great. She was enthusiastic about Florence and the food. She patiently guided us from one venue to another. The food and drink we consumed on the tour were very good. Our only issue was that we couldn't remember the names of all the food and drink. Maybe a one page write up would be beneficial. We would definitely recommend this tour to others.

Christina was great. She was knowledgeable and entertaining. We had delicious espresso, gelato, fabulous wine and Proseco, pecorino cheese, truffles with delicious bread and at Forno’s fantastic prosciutto and cheese inside this fabulous bread served warm. WOW! The people we met on the tour were friendly and interesting. Christina took us to places that I think most tourists would never find. The whole experience was unforgettable. We loved it.

Our guide, Nora was excellent, very friendly and gave us lots of information on the tour (not just about food but local historical facts along the way). There were very generous amounts of ‘tastings’ and all very enjoyable! There were 7 of us in the Group. Would definitely recommend this tour - great way to get to know Florence and try local food in ‘off the beaten’ track places!
