We had a great day with the best tour guide named Jeff ! The hike was challenging but worth it and you'll be rewarded with an unbelievable views at the highest point. Luckily Jeff also is a very good photographer so we got to capture it all. Afterwards we went swimming in a beautiful lake, it was awesome!

If you don't have a fear of heights and you're in a good enough shape to climb lots of stairs to a height of almost 300 meters (80 floors building), then this is a MUST tour! The view and the adrenaline definitely worth it! Also, our tour guide Jeff was really cool, interesting and really funny. I honestly couldn't expect this hike to be any cooler. Definitely recommended!

Perfect Day

Even though the weather was not perfect, it was a perfect day. We were lucky to be only two participants and to have Chester as our guide. Everything was easy and super well organized, on time and relaxed. We were picked up on time and before actually going to Taroko gorge Chester took us to visit a former Shintoism shrine which had later been turned into a Catholic Church. Very interesting a start. Arriving at Taroko gorge all was prepared and we hiked up the trail. Chester found the rights speed for us and he is a very knowledgeable person. On the way he will be able to answer every question you have, be it Taiwanese history, culture, nature or anything else. He will show you the characteristic plants and tell you about how they got their names, whether they are edible or poisonous, or whether you can use them for any certain purpose. The same applies to animals of all sorts. And Chester will not only tell you, he will have materials and pictures of the animals with him to show to you. Really superb! And if you are lucky, Chester might even sing a Taiwanese song to you while having lunch ;). The trail itself does not need a lot of description here, you can google yourselves... So to keep it to minimum here, it is moderately demanding, going up about 700 meters in height. Again, the way Chester did it with us was very moderate and considerate. Up there you need to be able to cope with the height, but it is always secured at the exposed spots. So, a perfect and breath taking day, never to be forgotten. Thank you, Chester!

Tough hike but worth it

We were a group of 7, with varying levels of fitness. Jeff did a wonderful job ensuring our safety while keeping us on pace. This hike is no joke....a lot of steep climbing up stairs but it was all worth it at the end once you reach the cliff. Amazing views and while I'm terrified of heights, I would definitely do this hike again!

This tour was amazing everything we had hoped for and more. We got to see Taroko Gorge up close and very personal, at times staring down a 600m cliff. While we were the 'weakest link' in the group, our guide, William, managed to help everyone progress at their own speed and ability and enjoy it all the way. William had great insights into the history of Taroko Guide and our trail, and saw to our every need. In fact, I was impressed that at the midpoint, where we rested and had lunch before our return, William quietly prepared a hot beverage tea, coffee, or even hot chocolate for everyone. Couldn't have had a better tour guide on this or any other tour.

Highly recommended. This trail admits up to ~150 persons a day max and the views and experience are stunning. The guide was also very friendly, explained many things about the trail and even took us for some local street food specialties.

Great tour and even better guide! Well organized tour, the Zhuilu trail is the main event but there is plenty of flexibity to fill in the remainder of the day, we managed to squeeze in the Eternal Spring trail, a brief stop at the beach and 2 local eateries in Hualien. Very well paced tour, fantastic views and a pretty cool hike alltogether. Highly recommended!

Brilliant! Our guide was generous with his wealth of information and experience. Although the hike was strenuous, his pace was great and accommodated to our small group. Will be back to find out more about Taroko!
