Overview

In just 3.5 hours, experience the beauty of Juneau and surrounding region. Wind through Juneau’s downtown historic district and around Douglas Island aboard a comfy coach, before crossing the Gastineau Channel to Mendenhall Glacier. Discover the trails around the massive glacier on your own and head back to Juneau by coach. Ascend Mt Roberts in an aerial gondola and settle in for a delicious meal of grilled salmon at a mountaintop restaurant. Gain insight into Juneau’s history as you soak up grand views of the area’s natural wonders.
  • Juneau sightseeing tour including Mendenhall Glacier and Mt Roberts
  • See historical Juneau sights like St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church and take a scenic drive around Douglas Island
  • Marvel at the natural wonder of Mendenhall Glacier and Mendenhall Lake
  • Be whisked up Mt Roberts by aerial gondola
  • Enjoy a lunch or dinner of grilled salmon at Timberline Bar & Grill
  • Work off your meal on the Mt Roberts hiking trails, if you wish
When booking, choose one of five tour start times that best suits your schedule. Head to the aerial gondola station at the base of Mt Roberts and board a coach for your 45-minute narrated tour through downtown Juneau and neighboring Douglas Island. Learn about the historical sites you pass, including St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, built in 1893, and the capitol building, dating back to 1929.

Cross Gastineau Channel onto Douglas Island, home to a ski resort and the small town of Douglas. Snap pictures of the Juneau harbor and surrounding mountains as you circle the island.

Next, enjoy 45 minutes of free time at Mendenhall Glacier, part of Tongass National Forest. Stretching from Juneau Ice Field to Mendenhall Lake, the glacier is 12 miles (20 km) long. Inside the Visitor Center, learn about the glacier’s formation, or explore trails like the Photo Point Trail and Nugget Creek Falls for gorgeous views of the glacier.

Hop back on the coach for a drive back to Juneau’s aerial gondola station, and enjoy the gondola ride up to Timberline Bar & Grill on Mt Roberts. Dig into a delicious meal of perfectly grilled coho salmon, served with seasonal vegetables. The views of the mountains and Gastineau Channel from 1,800 feet (550 meters) high are not too shabby either.

Your tour concludes with your meal. Take the gondola back down on your own when you’re ready, or spend more time on the mountain to visit the gift shop or hike one of the nearby trails.

Beautiful trip if you have time. Unfortunately we only had time to see the Glacier but not enough time to go up the tram nor eat lunch. Don't recommend if you are cruising.

A good reasonably priced tour. We did not have much time and we were able to see some of the highlights of Juneau. We needed a bit more time than the cruise ship stop allowed but we were happy with what we got.

Tour was as advertised. Agents were on hand with signs meeting us. The glacier views were wonderful and tramway and lunch was nice. Didn't do the trolley tour of the city portion of the tour due to our having other commitments for a tour to the dog mushers summer training camp. Would recommend considering this tour.

It was a rainy day and because of that, lack of enough time in port, and waiting in line for buses prevented us from doing the Tramway and Salmon lunch since we had to get back on the ship....Didn't think things were very well organized, we were kind of on our own changing from one activity to another.....changing transportation, etc...Plus the fact that it wasn't a nice day, just made the whole experience seem like a waste of time.

We took this tour in July of 2016, on our own when our cruise ship docked in Juneau. We met our tour guide, Tom, and immediately knew that it was going to be a great trip! Tom was the best, he had an amazing personality and was pretty funny! Definitely, ask for Tom! The glacier was amazing! I wish that we would have had a little longer there, but given the overcast weather we walked around the path and visitor center pretty quick and still had some time to explore outside. It was a little wet, so the one path was closed. However, we still got some great pictures. The tramway was great! It was a cool view to see the town and the cruise ships from. At the restaurant, we had the clam chowder and salmon dinner. We paid extra for the crab nachos, the food was pretty good!
