Experience delectable flavors from Slovenia’s rich culinary heritage during this guided small-group sightseeing and walking tour in Ljubljana. Explore the vibrant farmers market and discover refreshing tastes. Your palette is sure to remember the exciting cheeses, cured meats, wine, cakes, and fruity schnapps! Enjoy a delicious lunch among locals at a nearby restaurant and learn the history of Slovenia’s capital city and see sights like the beautiful buildings hovering along Ljubljanica River. This tour is limited to 12 people to ensure a personalized experience.
  • Explore Ljubljana’s vibrant farmers market and sample some tasty local products
  • Enjoy a traditional lunch among locals
  • Learn about the diversity of Slovenia through its rich culinary history
  • Walk through the heart of Ljubljana’s Old Town and learn about some of the city’s most famous landmarks
Convene with your local guide in old town Ljubljana and begin your 3-hour culinary walking tour. First, stroll into an old Yugoslavian influenced fish tavern for light bites and wine. Sense the ambiance of the early 20th century and begin to see the changes of Slovenia’s cultural past and present.

Then walk to a few bars and cafes nestled under beautiful chestnut trees. This beautiful neighborhood is a lovely place to treasure a platter of charcuterie and cheese. Rinse down the salty goodness with Slovenian wine sourced from nearby vineyards. Try lesser known selections for a true Slovenian experience.

Listen to the chatter of locals mingling at sidewalk cafes as you walk along the Ljubljanica River, then duck into a bakery for a taste of local Ljubljana cake.

Next, make your way over beautiful Triple Bridge towards Preseren Square (Presernov trg) where on hot days the city creates a manmade rain cloud that sprinkles refreshing water droplets. Here, visit the statue of poet France Preseren and learn how his love story helped Slovenia become the country of love.

Continue on to a shop full of regional honey and blueberry schnapps and try the sweeter side of Slovenia. Finally, head up to a rooftop cafe for one of the city’s best vantage points and perhaps a drink (own expense). Enjoy salutations with your fellow group members and guide before you decide your next Ljubljana experience.

My tour guide was named Urban and he knew every little detail about the history of Ljubljana. This was a very good tour with some tasting of wine, sausage, and cake. I had a great time!

We ended up having an exclusive Tour as we were the only 2 people signed up for that day. I can highly recommend the experience. It was interesting to see parts of the city we would not have ventured in to as tourists and get the true "insider's view" of Ljubljana and Slovenia from a native. Oh, and the food was good too! No dinner required the evening!
