The transport definitely was not by an AC van. The driver insisted that we keep our windows open- even if it was 35C 100F outside! Having said that, he was very courteous and helpful. Every day of the tour, we met a new tour guide from a different part of the country. As is everywhere else in Morocco, people just want your money. The tour guides, while very informed about their history and their subjects, definitely acted as tourist traps for a few shops, always taking us into specific shops and telling us to buy stuff as it was very important for the trip, and that we were getting the best deal even though the next store had a cheaper price posted for the same stuff. The second day, our guide took us to a local Berber family, and prior to entering we were taught a few Berber words and told the family spoke no other language. We walk in, lo and behold, everyone speaks English and French, and they're trying to sell us carpets! Also, this Berber man stands right at the door and you can not leave until someone in the group buys a carpet. And then at the next stop, we see the exact same carpets being sold for less than half the price. Coincidentally, our guide for the portion has now conveniently disappeared. The accommodations on both nights were decent, the hotel especially was very interesting! Definitely recommended. Great food too! The owner ws very friendly. Tents for the next night, clean-ish. No major issues here- just make sure to carry your own toilet paper for the 2nd and 3rd day. Lastly, the camel ride was more like 1.5 - 2 hours, and not 3. It was fun though! And its a long way back on the 3rd day- be prepared for a lot of sitting! All in all, a great tour for what Morocco has to offer. The tour was good too, but a few small things made a big difference. From what I hear, other tour operators are similar with what the guides do so I guess us tourists are SOL. PS: YOU DO NEED A SCARF FOR THE DESSERT! Save yourself the 100 Dh.
