Begin your tour in the morning at the Munich Central Train Station, where you’ll meet your guide and board a train for the scenic ride to Salzburg. As you ride, enjoy the marvel of the German rail system, renowned for immaculate service and equipment.

You’ll arrive in Salzburg by mid-morning, and your introduction begins with a walking tour. With your city map in hand, follow your guide for a stroll through this UNESCO-listed city. Admire baroque-era architecture and visit castles, churches, monasteries, gorgeous piazzas and more. Ask questions and snap photos along the way.

After your guided tour, break off from the group for a few hours of independent exploring. Plot your trip through the preserved medieval town, wandering along picturesque lanes to see sites like Domkirche Cathedral, the magnificent Festung Hohensalzburg, and Mirabell Garden and Palace, the setting for the classic ‘Do-Re-Mi’ scene from The Sound of Music (admission not included). You’ll have plenty of time to sightsee, souvenir shop and explore local boutiques and eateries.

At the end of your Salzburg walking tour, head to the train station for the return ride to Munich. You’ll arrive back at the departure point in the evening.

Very good experience with this tour of beautiful Salzburg. Our tour guide, Maxine, was really great and informative, knowledgeable and nice to communicate with. We only spent this one day in Salzburg. The city has so much history and beauty.. even though we had a short time here, I felt we got a great overview of what the city’s all about.

Paul was great with plenty of information and patient enough for all of us to take pictures. He pointed out the most interesting sites and made it fun.

While we were given...

While we were given interesting facts about what we were about to see in Salzburg on the train trip from Munich, we were explicitly TOLD NOT to ASK QUESTIONS of our tour guide while in Salzburg. ☹️ We learned the city of Salzburg required tours to be given by their own tour guides. 🧐🤨 We were instructed to ASK fellow TOURISTS, while in Salzburg, if they remembered information we may have forgotten from what was shared on the train ride. 😲 We still feel DECEIVED and taken advantaged of since we really were not able to fully experience an open dialogue with our “tour guide” while in Salzburg. It was a surreal and bizarre experience. 😳. Unfortunately, our experience was clouded by a purely profit driven business where clients’ needs are secondary to the almighty Euro. 🙁

Hey Marica, thank you for your honest opinion about our Salzburg Tour. In defense on the tour : The government of Salzburg is very strict on how tours are operated, this is nothing that we put on our guests. They wish to keep a certain flair in Salzburg, which means that tour guides with their guests should not remain too staitionary at spots, which does happen if there are too many questions asked from the guests to our guides. That is why we do try to limit them, but we do not refuse to answer any questions our fellow guests have. We surely dont scam any guests on our tours, our other reviews on the tour do display and show this. I am very sorry if it did come by that way and that the tour did not meet your expectations. Sadly these reasons lie by the Salzburg Tourism board. Thanks for your understanding.

Maxine was a good tour guide

Salzburg is beautiful, unfortunately we only had 3 free hours in the city but that was fair and clearly stated in the itinerary. The tour guide, Maxine, was good and spent a lot of time showing us the various sites where the Sound of Music was filmed. Definitely a worthy day trip from Munich.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Salzburg is a beautiful city that we love sharing with our guests. Unfortunately, time does not allow us to stay much longer as we already spend an entire 10 hours together. Is there anything we could have done differently to turn your three star into a five star review?

Perfect Choice for a Tour

A perfect experience! Very knowledgeable guide, very well organized, a beautiful beautiful city and experience all around. Pointed out The Sound of Music sites which I was very excited about as my favorite movie and the entire city was gorgeous. Our guide was also very thoughtful in walking around on the train ride back to offer any recommendations for the city we were staying in and providing maps with routes to these recommended places. Book this tour and you won’t be sorry.

Great!

Our tour guide, V, was amazing. She was very informative. This was well organized. We met at their office and walked as a group to the train station. Maybe a 10 min walk. We all sat together on the train and once we arrived to Salzburg we took a short bus into town. She gave us a great 1hr guided tour and then we had 3 full hours to explore the city on our own. It was more than enough time to see the city! I would def book with this company again.
