Take a 10-minute journey by foot to Hauz Khas Village. Similar to New York City’s SoHo neighborhood, this eclectic part of the city is filled with art studios, cafes, funky boutiques and unique bookshops. Comb through rare finds like antique maps, posters and handmade clothing. Choose where you wander, making stops at Ethnic Silver, a popular jewelry store, or Cottage of Arts and Jewelry, known for its old-school textiles, prints and paintings. Children will love Lola’s World, a whimsical magic shop that’s ripe for youthful exploring.
After your walk through colorful Hauz Khas Village, enjoy a typical South Indian lunch at a local restaurant. Sample savory rice crepes known as dosas and share light and airy idlis (steamed ride cakes) before heading back to your hotel in the comfort of a private vehicle.
It is nothing like SoHo. There were only a few shops. The guide had never heard of the children's shop you advertise. We were not picked up until 10:00--supposedly didn't get our email confirmation. We were gone less than 5 hours and went to the Jagganath Temple at the end when it was closed for 2 hours so we never got to see it. The guide didn't really seem to know what was part of the trip and asked to look at the voucher. The guide was friendly (we liked him) and did show us the Muslim Mosque right next to Haus Khaus which was nice. In my opinion it was not worth the approximately $100 that my husband and I paid.
