Overview

Shop like a local, not a visitor, on a private, customized 6-hour shopping tour of Delhi. Select three or four markets and enjoy a flexible itinerary, shopping and strolling at each at your own pace. Dive into legendary Chandni Chowk for jewelry, electronics, and one-of-a-kind clothing. Choose to visit everything from Delhi's budget-friendly bazaars to malls to handicraft villages. Private transport, hotel pickup and drop-off, and carbon offset included, and you'll also have the opportunity to sample food at the markets.
  • Enjoy a flexible itinerary and visit three or four markets of your choice
  • Shop independently at markets such as Chandni Chowk or Dilli Hat
  • Private transportation and hotel pickup and drop-off from Delhi and Gurgaon included
  • Private tour for six or fewer, with personalized commentary from a private guide
After hotel pickup in Delhi or Gurgaon, travel by air-conditioned vehicle to three or four Delhi markets of your choosing. At each one, enjoy time to shop independently before rejoining your guide and continuing to the next. Your itinerary is flexible, so you set the pace and time at each market.

Perhaps start at Chandni Chowk in central Old Delhi. Explore the labyrinthine lanes of this famous market, weaving through the crowds and rickshaws for jewelry, electronics, fabrics, and Indian snacks.

If you're souvenir hunting, perhaps make tracks for Dilli Haat, a government-authorized market selling traditional Indian arts and handicrafts; or visit Hauz Khas Village, an arty hub of boutiques, cafés, and galleries.

Alternatively, head for Khan Market, a mix of top brands, bookshops, and Indian and international restaurants. There's also Paharganj, a touristy hot spot of budget-friendly clothes, trinket shops, and tailors’ cubbyholes that handcraft Indian clothes to order.

Perhaps finish at Sarojini Nagar for bargain clothes and factory outlets, or decide to hit the modern malls of Saket and Gurgaon. These busy centers offer department stores, food courts, and masses of electronic and homeware outlets, and are ideal for some relaxed retail therapy.

Finish your day of shopping with transport back to your hotel.

Chandni Chowk
This market exemplifies the quintessential feeling of Old Delhi — noisy, busy, and overflowing with goods. People, bicycles, cycle rickshaws and animals jostle for space in the narrow lanes near obscure stores selling anything from wedding wear to jewelry, hardware, and electronics. North Indian snacks are plentiful. (Some wholesale sub-markets closed on Sundays)

Sarojini Nagar Market
Among the more crowded markets, especially on weekends, this market is known for shops selling clothes, ranging from cheap t-shirts to brand stores. Hauz Khas Village
A chic market located in what used to be a village, it is dotted with contemporary restaurants, designer art stores, and clothing outlets. Various restaurants and bars play host to musical performances, with the Hauz Khas Tomb, the lake, and the deer park located nearby.

Stop At:
Janpath Market
Here you get to do the best of street shopping. You will mostly find small kiosks selling all kinds of cotton clothes and curios. The clothes are generally export-surplus garments and are sold dirt-cheap. There's lots of silver and artificial jewellery studded with semi-precious stones available here. Refugees who came after the Partition and Tibetans who came when China invaded Tibet settled here as traders. Shopping here requires a couple of skills. One, you must have the ability to distinguish the fake from the genuine. Two, you must know and practice the art of bargaining patiently.

Stop At:
Connaught Place
When it came into being, the sprawling circular market was the largest of its kind in India. The British believed that the horseshoe-shaped market would prove lucky for the shoppers and the shopkeepers both. This market has two circles. The Inner Circle consists of Blocks A to F. The important shops and showrooms here include Adidas Originals, Allen Solly, Bentley, Bon Ton, Cantabil, Gas, Johnson Watch Company, Kalpana, Lee, Louis Philippe, Neelkanth Jewellers, Nike, Orra, Park Avenue, Pepe, Proline and Fila, Roopchand Jewellers, Snowhite Square, Wills Lifestyle. Mohanlal Sons promises to give you ready or tailored attires to suit every occasion. Known for its quality and good service, you will find here a wide range of shirts, trousers, jackets, suits, kurtas and sherwanis. The Outer Circle consists of Blocks G to P. Showrooms like Digjam, Lacoste, Omega, Rado, RL Exports and TAG Heuer lie in this circle.

Lajpat Nagar Central Market
Lajpat Nagar is a popular shopping area where you can get whatever you desire - accessories, clothes, footwear, bags, etc. The garments at Hakoba range from saris and salwar kameezes for women to kurtas and kurtis for both men and women. The Lucknowi embroidery, which is mostly done in white-coloured threads, is breathtaking and of very high quality. Karan & Nasir have been revolutionizing the way men dress. RCKC has carved a niche for itself in the international market with labels like Anamika and RISA by Abhijeet Khanna. A brainchild of Saurabh Mehta, Samaira boasts a wide variety of designs that define femininity with simple styles. Apart from fashion stores, there are furnishing stores and decor houses to beautify your homes. There are huge glittering showrooms as well as roadside stalls. The mehndiwallahs (appliers of henna) are very famous. Bargaining is a must if you wish to get the best of this market. It remains closed on Mondays.

Majnu Ka Tilla (Tibetan Market)
Often called the Little Tibet in Delhi, this colony was originally set up to house a few Tibetan refugees. Decades later, not only has the little colony market grown in size but its name and fame have also spread far and wide. It is popularly known as the Monastery Market. A nondescript gate under the arch of the ISBT Shahdara Link Flyover on the Ring Road leads one to a suprisingly large market, chock-a-block with stalls selling statues, incense, shawls, paintings and Tibetan artefacts, including jewellery and semi-precious stones. Shops selling clothes and accessories are a huge hit among the young crowd of Delhi. Also popular are the shops selling footwear and other leather products. Most products are stylish and good value-for-money. This is also a good place to sample some original Tibetan home food. Restaurants like Zomsa and Shakura serve Tibetan delicacies including thukpa. Momos and mouth-watering chow mein are also available in this market. This market is closed on Mondays.

Raj’s tour is an incredible adventure where you’ll encounter an extraordinary array of people, shops, and flavors. With an incredible sense of humor and sharp wit, Raj shares his in-depth knowledge of his beguiling and magical city. And, of course, the shopping is great too.

I spent 18 days in SE Asia and took a plethora of tours. The Private Custom Shopping Tour of Delhi's Bustling Markets was my absolute favorite, hands down. Mr. Rajmalani AKA Raj was my tour guide. He is outstanding! Highly competent, articulate, funny, worldly...I could not have asked for a better tour guide/shopping assistant. I felt safe in his company as we traversed the crowded streets of the bustling markets. His choices of stores were neat, clean and exactly what I, as a discerning shopper, wanted. Raj tailored the day to my interests and skipped those things that did not appeal to me. It was the perfect day. You're the best, Raj!

The driver and tour guide were great. I learned about the 4 faiths that started in India. That alone was worth the money. Both the driver and the guide were friendly and kind. I enjoyed the restaurant they took us to for lunch. The food was Amazing. The only thing I didn't like was it seemed like the places they took us to shop were overpriced. I didn't know until I went to other places on my own and saw the same things sold for 1/2 the price I paid. I still would recommend the tour just to see the sites and to go to the places/areas to do great shopping. I would just shop at the places you choose and not by anything in the places they take you into.

This was a very enjoyable day trip. We had a great guide and very nice driver. The car was very new and comfortable for all 5 of us 3 adults and the guide and driver. The driver did an amazing job of smooth driving through the Delhi traffic. The guide was happy to listen to what we were interested in and to make some suggestions on where was best to shop for those items we wanted to buy. He took his time to tell us about some of Delhis history and about landmarks we passed. We never felt rushed and when we wanted to stop and have coffee, he was happy to do so. As we were touring on Christmas Day, there was some issues with traffic, but our guide was able to adjust by us taking the underground transit a few stops. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean and efficient it was. As good as the Japanese system! Overall an excellent day! Loved the Rickshaw Ride through old Delhi.

Our guide, Raj, was delightful and very informative. We had quite an adventure in several areas of the city, and knew the whole time that we were in very good hands. He tailored our trip to our requests and it was a pleasure to spend this time with him exploring parts of Delhi.

Great to have a guide to go through markets with and explain things about the markets. They will ask what you want to buy and bring you to those markets/specific places or just wander through to look at everything.

Deals, deals, and more deals! My husband and I did quite a bit of shopping in the area of India and I must say that our tour guide was extremely helpful in assisting us with the best deals/identifying quality for the products that we bought. The nice thing about this tour is that our tour guide was extremely flexible in regards to how long we wanted to stay at each market, when we wanted to eat, and order of the schedule. I do not think we could have navigated the markets without her and I know we made the right decision by purchasing this tour. In fact, if we visit India a second time we were so pleased with the service we would purchase this same tour again!
