Greenwich Village, or simply the Village, is one of New York City’s most beautiful and famous neighborhoods. Take a guided walking tour of this legendary part of Lower Manhattan, an important landmark on the map of American bohemian culture. Learn how it became a birthplace of the ’60s counterculture movement. Hear about the famous artists who once lived here, from Edgar Allan Poe to Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and countless others. Walk the winding streets and visit popular Washington Square Park, reliving more than 200 years of history.
  • An intriguing and fun tour of Greenwich Village with a professional guide
  • Learn about famous artists from Edgar Allan Poe to Jimi Hendrix who once lived here
  • Hear about how elements of America’s counterculture and gay rights movements were born here
  • Stroll the narrow streets and check out the beautiful old brownstone buildings
  • See some famous locations you’ve seen on TV, like the apartment building on Friends
Greenwich Village and its winding streets were already here when the rest of Manhattan’s streets were laid out as a grid in the early 19th century. See those crooked streets and more during a guided walking tour that covers more than 200 years of history. Check out the beautiful, historic brownstone residential buildings and the area’s bars and restaurants.
Edgar Allan Poe lived and wrote in this historic and beautiful neighborhood. The poet Dylan Thomas drank himself to death here. Radical thinkers John Reed and Upton Sinclair started counterculture movements, and the Village has been a haven for bohemians and a birthplace of the Beat movement. Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix played the small clubs and created some of their best music here. Your guide will also share the history of the gay rights movement as you pass landmarks.
Experience the present, learn a lot about the past and maybe even get a glimpse into the future of this iconic space in New York City. Finish the tour in iconic Washington Square before your tour ends at Village Cigar, a West Village relic.

Great way to spend an afternoon in NYC

Our guide, Ashley, was enthusiastic and informative. In two hours we got a great glimpse into the cultural and artistic history of Greenwich village. Heard many fascinating and humorous stories along the way. It was easy to understand why so many people love this area of the city. Highly recommend this tour.

Chris was my walking tour guide on Thursday, July 26, 2018. He was kind and so knowledgeable! He chatted with everyone in our group. It was obvious he researched and studied and new all facts. At the end of the tour, he took time to help me figure out how to find a train and get back to my destination. He handed me a metro card out of his wallet and told me just to add money on it. Such a sincere, kind, great guy! Thanks Chris! Good luck to you! Next time Ill walk and do the food tour with you.
