Receive a pickup from your Chiang Mai hotel. Your exact departure time will depend on the trip option you select at checkout. You’ll then drive from the city center into the mountainous regions north of town to begin your trip.
Make your first stop in the Hmong village of Baan Hmong Nong Hoi Mai, a development which has been designated as a ‘Royal Project’ of the Thai monarchy. Whereas the members of the community once made their living by cultivating opium, today the villagers have transformed the nearby hillsides of the area into a series of sustainable farm fields and test plantations.
Continue from the Hmong village to the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, another development project kickstarted by the Thai Royal Family. Take your time as you wander through the lush grounds planted with all different types of trees, plants and flowers, making sure to check out the specimens at the nearby orchid farm as well. Used primarily as a research center for Thai plant life, the gardens also offer educational programs for Thai citizens interested in pursuing careers in the biodiversity and environmental fields. After leaving the botanic garden, receive a drop-off back at your Chiang Mai hotel.
