Begin with 3pm pickup at your Penang hotel, where you’ll meet a private driver and tour guide for the trip to the Tropical Spice Garden. See some of the 500 species of tropical plants, aromatic spices, and native trees that thrive in the lush enclave, which you can explore on peaceful nature trails.
Continue to a nearby batik workshop, and learn how artisans produce the distinctive crafts from start to finish; this is the perfect place to shop for high-quality batik souvenirs, as you can buy direct from the workshop store. Drive to the northwestern edge of the island to visit Teluk Bahang, a fishing village whose name means “Bay of Heat Wave,” and enjoy the chance to see Penang Island at its most traditional, far from resorts and tourist sites.
As the day starts to cool, head to the night market of Batu Ferringhi, an open-air bazaar with everything from souvenirs to local snacks and products. Explore the lively maze of stalls with your guide, then finish the day with drop-off at your hotel at roughly 8pm.
