Pick your preferred activity (paddleboarding or kayaking) and your preferred departure time as you leave from Oregon City, just south of Portland. Get suited up with a paddle, lifejacket and either a kayak or board before pushing out into the currents of the Willamette River.
Paddle through the fast-moving Class II and III rapids before enjoying break on the calmer stretches and listening to details about Oregon pioneer history and state geology. Make sure to keep watch for the abundant fish and fowl that call this stretch of water home, including ospreys, Chinook salmon, and even the occasional sea lion.
Soon you’ll reach the historic Willamette Falls Locks, the thundering waterfalls that once denoted the symbolic end of the Oregon Trail. Take some time to celebrate your adventure and perhaps cool off with a swim before exiting the river. You’ll receive a ride back to your original starting point in Oregon City.
