Great way to escape the city and get into nature for the day
You’d be hard-pressed to find vistas as stunning as these. At the western end of the Gorge, the view from Crown Point is a front-row seat to the mighty Columbia as its unfurls and cuts through the Cascade mountains. From there dozens of awe-inspiring waterfalls spill from basalt cliffs, lining the Historic Columbia River Highway, like the famous Multnomah, Bridal Veil and Latourell falls. The landscape seems to grow bigger, grander and brighter as it rolls east.
The Vista House was built in 1917 on one of the most beautiful scenic points on the Historic Columbia River Highway. It was constructed to provide travelers a place to rest and refresh themselves as they made their way down the magnificent Columbia River Gorge.
Latourell Falls is a gorgeous waterfall that has the distinction of being the closest major waterfall of the Columbia River Gorge to the City of Portland. It possesses remarkable overhanging columnar basalt cliffs that allowes Latourell Creek to do a 249ft free-falling plunge with no contact with most of the underlying cliff, making it in one of the more unique such waterfalls in the gorge.
A waterfall as magnificent and memorable as any in the country is located just a 30- minute drive outside of Portland. Visiting Multnomah Falls, a 611-foot-tall roaring, awe-inspiring cascade of icy water, lets you experience the power and beauty of nature up close and with ease.
Even bad weather couldn’t dampen this amazing experience!

I have been to Portland many times and I have been along the Columbia River Gorge and seen the falls. I am always in awe when I see them. My kids had never been here and I wanted to share this beautiful landscape with them. I was a little concerned about the tour because I have teens and the weather was rainy and cold. If they weren’t enjoying themselves, we were stuck. However, this tour was perfect for us! Our van was very nice and comfortable. Our tour guide, Evan, was great! He thought of everything! He brought along extra umbrellas, had plenty of water on board, got to know each of his guests and called us each by name. He talked with my teens like they were friends. He shared some really great history of the area and made us laugh with silly jokes and stories. He made sure to tell us where the bathroom stops were and where to get the best coffee and snacks along the way. He let us wander on our own and offered to tour us along the way if we chose. He was always ready to help us get the best pictures too! All of the waterfalls are amazing, and I couldn’t wait to show my kids Multnomah Falls, but Evan told me he had a better one, saved for last! He wasn’t wrong! The Latourell Falls and their history were spectacular! Along the way he gave us ideas for other things to see while we were visiting. We went to many of his suggestions and had a great time. He was the perfect tour guide! Even my teens said they would do the tour again!
Great trip, wonderful guide and fantastic views. This half day tour is all you need to experience the Columbia River Gorge Recreational Area.
Our guide Steve was personable, caring and full to knowledge with great antidots. It was just enough without being too tedious.
Wear good shoes for walking on wet surfaces. You will get mist from the waterfalls but it is perfect.
Our tour guide, real nice guy from Santa Fe, gave us a very informative and entertaining trip! The bus ride was clean and comfortable, and all of the viewpoints were gorgeous! We had enough time at each spot to check everything out and take pictures. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Portland. A great activity if you’re staying in the city for a weekend and want to spend a half day checking out the outdoors in the surrounding area. Would also recommend wearing hiking boots, or shoes you don’t mind getting dirty, and a rain jacket, as there are a few short dirt paths to get to some of the falls.
So thankful we made time to see these breathtaking falls. We were on a weekend getaway and decided to do the half day tour from Portland. Do not miss these beautiful waterfalls. Our guide Kari was very informative, friendly and knowledgeable about Portland/Oregon's history so we got an extra bonus with her!
Highly recommend this tour and our GUIDE!
This is a very impressive trip to Multnomah Falls on the rainy day. The tour guide was very nice and full of information to share. He had a very good service mind the take care all of the client groups.
Though it was raining all the time, the tour guide also relaxed no matter how wet we made to the van. The other clients were so nice and friendly.
Thank you for a special half day from
this tour and the guide.
