This is a very long day- mostly spent on the bus, which was cramped. But I would do it all again in a heartbeat because the experience of being at the lagoon and Diamond Beach is simply once in a lifetime. You will not regret it.
I was slightly wary of the idea of 14 hours on the bus, but I read the other reviews and everyone said some variation on this: "Just do it". I am SO thrilled I did. The trip cannot be properly or adequately described. Except to say this: THIS IS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. Worth every penny. And you simply will not believe what you are seeing. You stop for lunch and also for an evening snack. Bring your own snacks and water. Bring your camera. Bring a warm hat and gloves, wear a ski parka. This trip is fantastic and our guide, Simon, was OUTSTANDING.
Fabulous Tour with a First Class Company! Bustravel was great! My family had the best time, I cannot emphasize what a memorable experience of Iceland this tour created. This 14 hours tor just flew by thanks to a fabulous tour guide named Jona. She was warm, friendly and a absolute pleasure to be with, It was so obvious that she really loved her job, Every place we visited was great and she gave us the history as well as her personal experiences growing up in Iceland, The Glacier Lagoon was unbelievable, and I urge all of you to take the Boat Ride through the Glacier Lagoon, It is an experience you will treasure forever. And Tomas was a great Driver!
Our trip was plagues with rain. However, our tour guide Sigrun was upbeat and entertained us all the way. The waterfalls are amazing especially the one where can you walk behind the waterfalls. The boat trip on the lagoon was nice but due to poor weather the visibility was horrendous. Vik was also another amazing place we stopped by.
This was a long bus trip to the Lagoon but when you get there the lagoon is so worth it. The day we went the weather was clear and we could see so many sights along the way. You also see a couple of really great waterfalls - and can even go behind one of them. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland.
Long tour for only an hour at the Lagoon - probably best taken in Summer when there is more to see. Guide was helpful and knowledgeable. Driver very skilled as conditions were a bit rough at times. Plenty of comfort stops.
The most amazing experience. I can't recommend this trip highly enough. It is quite a long journey but it passes so quickly and the glacial lagoon is well worth traveling for. This particular company were brilliant, the guide was really knowledgeable and very helpful. His stories and tour given on the bus journey were really interesting and helped pass the time. The two stops at waterfalls on the way are also brilliant and help break up the journey.
Of all the places we visited in Iceland, including the blue lagoon, golden circle tour etc, this was by far the best and was the highlight of our trip. Every person in our group was in agreement about that.
Make sure you take lots of warm clothing as it can very cold at the lagoon. Gloves, hats, warm coats and scarves are a must. I would recommend taking a change of clothing as Icelandic weather can be very unpredictable and if you get soaked by the rain etc. it is a long bus journey home feeling cold.
Another good tip is to sit on the left hand side of the bus as you get to see the best of the scenery on the way out. On the way back it is dark so it doesn't matter!
Also, take a good camera as the scenery is breathtaking!
