  • English-speaking tour guide
  • Pickup and drop-off from select Reykjavik meeting points

Why Travelers Choose This Tour

If you don’t see the aurora on this tour, you can do it again at no additional cost.
Leave the city by comfortable coach, and journey into Iceland’s countryside to search for the Northern Lights.
On route, listen as your guide explains the science behind the extraordinary natural phenomenon, also known as the Aurora Borealis. Learn about the Icelandic myths that have grown up around the spectacle, and how the fluorescent lights are formed by electrically charged particles in the Earth’s atmosphere.
Leave Reykjavik far behind, and head into an area free from any urban light pollution — the darker the skies, the better the chances of getting a good view of the lights.
Hop out of the coach at select locations with your camera in hand and scan the skies, with pointers from your guide. If you’re lucky, be treated to a display and gaze at the shimmering veils of fluorescent lights as they dance and move across the sky.
If you’re keen to get shots, get tips from your guide on how to set up your camera and take good quality photos. Sightings can’t be guaranteed, but if you don’t observe the lights, you will receive a complimentary ticket to take the evening tour on another day.
After your evening spent looking for the lights, return to Reykjavik where your tour finishes with a hotel drop-off.

Great View of the Northern Lights, but a bad place to park the bus...
, May 2019
We got a great opportunity to see and photograph the Northern Lights. Unfortunately, the way the bus was parked at the edge of a road with a steep drop-off just past the edge, it was a recipe for disaster. Everyone standing against the bus to get out of the wind made passage to in front of the bus where there was room to put up a tripod a challenge, and the guide did nothing to keep people from blocking the path. The result was that an older gentleman fell down the drop-off and broke his ankle. We then were delayed in returning to Reykjavik while we waited for an ambulance to come and take him to the hospital.

What an amazing experience. Eventhough very cold but paid for the spectacular view. Just wanna see one more time, one day, I hope. The agent very professional. We was so satisfied for their service.
Always Cancelled

To no fault of their own that our trip to the northern light has been cancelled four times due to poor weather

We really had great expectations of seeing the lights. They told us the index was a 5 which was supposedly high. Instead we froze and saw nothing. The worst was the line to use the toilets, being so cold allot of people needed to go and it was almost impossible by the time we got there the line was back to the city. The guides were very nice and kept encouraging us but the Aurora was no were to be seen. I know its nature but i think they knew our chances of seeing it were zilch. As a matter of fact we met some other tourist whose tour for that same night for the lights had been cancelled because there was no chance of seeing anything.
Clear sky no viewing

Good overall. Aurora did not want to come out and say hello. Bus picked up at a convienent location. Bus provided adequate space.
a little disappointed

first off we weren't lucky with the weather as it was cloudy all week. the original night we were scheduled for was cancelled due to poor weather. the following day the weather was even worse and to my surprise the tour was on. It had been raining all day and the weather forecast was not promising at all but according to our guide we were going to a spot where there was a chance we would see them. I honestly was very skeptical as I had checked the weather and aurora forecast for that night and it was not the greatest. Anyhow I was disappointed with the guide. I thought his tone and pauses were more annoying than anything else and some times he wouldn't talk for a very long time. I know it's all in Mothers nature's hand but I felt like that night the excursion was on just so that they could say they tried. and that we wouldn't haven't to get refunded for not even going at all
No lights

The trip was well organised but the weather was too cloudy for the lights to appear and the next day was also cancelled because of bad weather so never saw them
