Exploring the highlights of South Iceland is the most popular choice for a day trip from Reykjavik, but deciding whether to discover the natural wonders of the Golden Circle or admire the dramatic waterfalls along the south coast is a tough choice. This 3-hour airvan flight from Reykjavik allows you to visit both in one day, taking in Gullfoss and Seljalandsfoss falls, the Geysir geyser, Thingvellir National Park, and the glaciers of Thorsmork. Entrance to the Lava Center in Hvolsvollur is included on this small-group tour of just seven people.
  • 3-hour airvan tour of South Iceland and the Golden Circle from Reykjavik
  • Marvel at Iceland’s volcanic topography from above
  • Touch down to see the Skogafoss Waterfall up close
  • Soar over the Thingvellir National Park and see meeting point of the European and American tectonic plates
  • Spot natural wonders such as Seljalandsfoss, Gullfoss, Geysir, and Thorsmork from above
  • On-board commentary ensures you don’t miss anything
  • Small-group tour limited to seven people ensures a personalised experience
Make your own way to Reykjavík Domestic Airport 15 minutes before your departure time for a safety briefing, then jump aboard your airvan and take off over Reykjavík.

Enjoy spectacular views from the airvan’s oversized windows as you fly along Iceland’s South Coast, swooping over glacial plains, rugged sea cliffs, and black sand beaches. Touch down at Skógafoss waterfall to get a closer look at the natural wonder, pose for photos, and enjoy some refreshments (included), before climbing back on-board.

As you loop back towards the city, soar over the mountains and glacier lakes of Thorsmork, and look out for the stunning Seljalandsfoss waterfall, tucked away in the hills. Before reaching the city, track north along the famous Golden Circle sightseeing route and keep your camera to hand as you spot the mighty Gullfoss waterfall and glide over the steamy landscapes of the Geysir geothermal area.

Continue over the vast landscape of the Thingvellir National Park and hear how the region was home to the world’s first parliament from your pilot’s on-board commentary. Nowhere is Iceland’s unique geographical location more apparent and as you soar over the park, you’ll see the gaping fissure that marks the meeting point of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

After a thrilling 3-hour flight, filled with unforgettable views, return to Reykjavik and end your tour back at Reykjavik Domestic Airport.

This was an excellent choice. Words aren't really enough to describe the grandeur of Iceland - viewed from the vantage point of a little plane and with a good guide. I think this trip would be different each day, depending on the amount of cloud and snow, but would always be beautiful. The day we flew was warm and uncharacteristically cloudless - we had an astonishing view of the island, the volcanos, geysers and massive glaciers. I also loved looking at the farmland, the cropping, the little villages and all of the wonderful waterfalls. I was touched by the delight of two Icelanders on the same trip, who were both amazed and blessed to see their home from this new angle. I loved it - can't say enough good things about it. The tiny plane is a bit of a wriggle to get into if you're older like us! but so worth while - not difficult, but obviously not your jumbo jet! Go - you'll never regret it.

The airvan flight to South Iceland was fantastic. Circle Airlines that actually owned the airplane and conducted the tour through the Reykjavik Airport were professional, friendly and great tour guides. I will do this again when I return to Iceland---and I am glad I booked this instead of a helicopter tour.
