Meet for this walking tour of Rome at the Colosseum in the early evening before the lights of the city begin flickering, and then set off on foot to begin your tour of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Your first stop is at the Pantheon, where you can snap pictures of the beautiful structure under the moonlight. Afterward, follow your guide to the nearby Trevi Fountain, a true icon of the city and one of its most valued treasures. If you’d like, you can drop a coin in the fountain for luck before moving on (own expense). Continue following your guide to Capitoline Hill, and catch a glimpse of the Roman Forum and its famous ruins that are still standing from the days of the Roman Empire. Your last stop is at the impressively large Colosseum. Once a place that was packed with crowds and booming gladiator fights, it now serves as a reminder of ancient Roman history. Your guide shows you around its exterior walls as you learn little-known facts about the amphitheater.
I had great expectations as had just been on a wonderful tour in Florence but this one was lacking.
The guide kept apologising when she took us the wrong way - she said “I’m so tired” on numerous occasions but we (as in the walking group) had been kept waiting first for the ear phones and then for the guide herself for over 30 mins. Then the tour was abruptly finished as most of the group dropped off... we were not back at the original meeting point and I was by myself! Her response was that it was “easy” to get back - I do not speak Italian and it was my first day in Rome - it was not “easy” to find my way home - especially in the dark. I felt she had other plans and really just wanted to get god if me. Not good! In saying all this - she was informative and when focused - knew her stuff!
Really enjoyed this tour, our Guide Irene was really good at showing us the best places for photos and full of interesting history and amusing anecdotes. Really appreciated it being at night, as the daytime was so hot! Do this tour at the start of your trip , if you can.
We were there on time and ready to go. After making the international call to the tour company, they said Viator was notified but we never were! Paid and confirmed so now I get to fight to get our money back for getting stood up when we get home.
This was a great way to get to see several major sites in Rome. Laura was a great guide, she shows great passion for her home city. We enjoyed the tour very much learned a lot about the history of Rome.
This was such a great tour! My husband and I now want to go for any city tour at night because of this tour. The tour guide was great. She loved Rome and her passion really came through. She helped us with quite a lot of 'perfect picture' spots too.
