The meeting point was super easy to find & we were walked right into the Vatican museums within 10 minutes. The line for those who didn't make reservations was over 3 hours long; highly recommend a skip the line reservation!
Leading up to our trip I was nervous that we would not be able to find the meeting place and have the tour that we had bought tickets for. We found the meeting place with our guide quite easily using google maps and the guide took us up to the entrance and showed us which line we needed to be in. Although there was a bit of chaos at the entrance, once we got into to our line we entered quite quickly and was on our way through the Vatican. We walked independently and were able to see what we had hoped. We were there with several teenagers and opted for a self tour which suited our group. If it was just my husband and I, I think we would have tried a guided tour to learn a bit more and deeper about what all we were seeing.
Our tour guide was lovely, well informed and did a great job. The Vatican itself, is extremely crowded, but our tour guide impressively managed to keep us all together and on track. Put your speed goggles on though, due to the crowding, the wave of people hustles you through. Prior to entry, mentally prepare yourself for quite a long security line wait (that's what eats up half the tour). Nothing you can do about that though, just hope for a less crowded day.
This got us into the Vatican museum without waiting in the extremely long line. The museum was incredibly crowded and rather unpleasant to navigate (not any fault of the tour, just how it was the day we visited). We were able to get to the Sistine chapel, however the highlight was probably climbing the dome of St. Peter’s basilica. Entering St. Peter’s was free, the climb was a small fee. The Sistine chapel was beautiful but crowded and noisy.
We met the company rep at the designated point, were taken into the Vatican with no queue, provided with our tickets and given some simple information. All in all a simple, hassle-free experience which saved us queuing for a long time.
Our tour guide paulo was incredible, punctual & very factful.
He showed us where to go & it was very clear.
We had an amazing time in the Vatican Museums & the Sistine Chapel & managed to get entry to the Basilica too.
Overall a great tour & highly reccomended!
