This tour is conducted in two sections: a morning Vatican tour and an evening city center tour, both fully guided.
Your tour begins when you meet your guide near the Vatican 25 minutes prior to your chosen morning departure time. Skip the lines at the Vatican Museums and get started on a tour of the courtyards and galleries, which culminate at the Sistine Chapel. Spend some time admiring Michelangelo’s iconic masterpiece, and then continue to St. Peter’s Basilica, home to some of the world’s most recognizable artwork, such as Michelangelo’s Pieta and Bernini’s Baldacchino. Complete the first part of your tour among the 284 columns at St. Peter’s Square, and then enjoy a free afternoon.
Make your way back to St. Peter’s Square to rejoin your group for the second portion of the tour by 2:35 p.m. Meet your guide to see Castel Sant’Angelo, a Roman building converted into a Papal prison in the 14th century, and then cross an ancient marble bridge en route to Piazza Navona to see Bernini’s famous Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi. Follow your guide through the winding streets of old Rome en route to Piazza della Rotonda, home to the world’s largest dome atop the Pantheon. Complete your tour in true Italian style with a food and wine tasting at Campo de’Fiori.
