Amazing experience!

Everything was perfect! They have explained in detailed regarding the trip on their website, it was exactly the same as described. Excellent communication! Our tour guide Frankie and Chris were amazing. They even took our pictures and videos during the rainforest experience. In the evening, we went for bio bay tour, which was an amazing experience. Only thing about bio bay tour, they rushed us back rather letting us enjoy in the lagoon, after kayaking almost a mile and half.

I love the tour!!! Jason was amazing, he helped us go up and down the hills. He explained to us what to expect and gave us options. Chris our driver was very experienced and kept us safe. The lifeguard in Yunque was a saver as one of us needed help with the path as it was very slippery. Manolo and his crew at the Glass Bottom PR were very fun and helpful. Overall it was a great day and the weather was amazing.

Definitely recommend! Our tour guide for El Yunque was Jason and he was great and knowledgeable. We were picked up on time and there were no delays in our schedule for the rest of the day. The bio bay portion was a once in a lifetime experience that you have to see. I was struggling during the kayak portion but one of the guides was able to hook us on to his kayak and pull us along which helped so much.

Great Unique PR Combo Tour

I highly recommend this tour! The El Yunque rainforest portion of the trip was so much fun and we had great guides. I also appreciated how safety-focused the tour was: we wore life jackets and helmets the entire time which initially seemed like a lot but we passed a woman on a different tour who had no safety gear and had slipped and hit her head. I also liked where we stopped for lunch/beach time in the afternoon, which allowed us to relax and recharge ahead of kayaking.

Fun water adventure overcome by a storm

The El Yunque experience was excellent. It's primarily an water activity rather than a rainforest tour, but the guide did show us some of the local fauna. After a short walk and arriving at a local swimming area ("lobby"), we climbed up a short rocky path and returned via 2 slides and a large (30ft) jump. The guide was very encouraging for the less adventurous ones of us, and all of us eventually worked up the courage to partake in all three main events, although there are some optional extra jumps for those inclined. For those less interested, you can just stay in the lobby or skip specific parts. I'd advise bringing a pair of shoes with good grip that can get soaked (you will be swimming in them), and a change of shoes after the hike. We stopped at the Luqillo kiosks for lunch (like 2-5pm), which was a good break for food, drink, and beach before the (separate) ride to the Biobay tour arrived. We were then taken to biobay launch point in Fajardo (Las Croabas), which is when things turned south. There started to be intermittent heavy rain, which isn't unusual here, but we got in the kayaks in a period of calm. We launched prior to dusk which made the initial navigation of the mangroves easier. About halfway to the Lagoon, rain picked up again, and thunder started in the distance. I expected to turn around at this point as the tour had indicated tours may be cancelled due to weather events/thunderstorms, but the guides seem unperturbed and we continued. As we arrived in the lagoon, we paddled out to somewhat in the middle of it, which left us less sheltered from the rain, and it soon became a torrential downpour. With thunder getting more frequent and closer, we just sat there waiting for it to become dark enough to see the bioluminescence. So we sat there in the open, rain pouring, thunder roaring, body heat draining, 45 min from shore, pondering our life choices that led us to this point. The guide assured us that this was normal and the thunder was "casual", but I think the average person (including myself) will feel very unsafe. At some point, they concluded that we will need to resort to observing the luminescence under the tarp as many others have indicated (apparently the fresh water from the rain reduces the activity, which already wasn't the highest in this bay). We hid under the tarp, which I mainly appreciated for its shelter from the rain, and splashed water into the kayaks to induce some sparks. If you've calibrated your expectations, as you should, it was sufficiently entertaining, but given the circumstances, entertainment was pretty far from my mind. Eventually even the guide said we should hurry back. Surprisingly we encountered more kayaks approaching the lagoon as we were returning. As we approached the bay, they indicated the wind from the storm was dangerous enough that they tethered our kayaks together to guide us back. Traveling in Puerto Rico in the wet season is always subject to weather, and it's unclear truly how normal this experience was, but you should evaluate your own preparedness to be on the open waters in a thunderstorm. Check the forecasts and radar before getting in the boat. If you're not a particularly warm individual, bring a rain jacket to protect from potential rain. Don't rely on the tour operators to ensure your safety since your own threshold may differ from theirs. The excitement from kayaking in the dark in the mangroves and in the potentially turbulent bay is enough for me by itself, but I'd advise against going out when there's a storm coming, with or without thunder.

Muddy adventure
Hae_C
, Oct 2021
We had lots of fun on the hike - muddy, wet, muddy, rinse, repeat! The guides were wonderful and it was thrilling to experience the cliff jumps and natural water slides! Highly recommend the El Yunque rainforest. For the kayaking, we enjoyed kayaking in the dark and experiencing the bio bay phenomenon- if you don’t go with high expectations of seeing luminary lights in the waters and just enjoying the experience, you’ll have a great time.

Nice excursion from SaJu

The waterfall and jumping off the clip was exhilirating. Biobay tourguides pulled some tricks so we can see the bioluminescent plankton. Guides were excellent. A little pricey so might not be for those watching their budget .
