Begin your shore excursion at the Santorini port, where you'll meet your host and hop aboard a small boat toward Fira.
Upon arrival in Fira, join up with your private guide and take off toward Santorini's highest peak, Profitis Ilias, by private car. Learn the history of the area from your guide and feel free to ask questions as you wind up the mountain, taking in views of the vineyards and rocky terrain.
At the top, reach Profitis Ilias, one of the island's oldest monasteries, constructed in the early nineteenth century. Once functioning as a Greek school, today it houses a significant collection of Greek Orthodox iconography and bibles, and offers sweeping views over the island at its perch of 1,853 feet (565 meters).
Visit the village of Oia next, built on a steep slope of the caldera. As you stroll through the narrow streets with your guide, peruse the local shops filled with artisan jewelry, paintings and ceramic artwork. Oia also showcases unbeatable views of Fira from its place on the edge of the cliffs.
Afterward, travel to Fira, where you’ll enjoy a short cable car ride back to your pier.
