Overview

While in Skagway, take the opportunity to go dog sledding with an Iditarod racer during a 4.5-hour tour in the Yukon Territory. Play with adorable Alaskan Husky puppies, stop at scenic viewpoints, look for wildlife, and experience an exhilarating dogsled ride in the rugged wilderness.

  • 4.5-hour Yukon tour with dog sledding, from Skagway
  • See White Pass Valley and parts of the Yukon Territory and British Columbia
  • Ride with an experienced musher and dogsled team, and play with Alaskan Husky pups
  • Stop for photo ops at the 'Welcome to the Yukon' sign and other picturesque locales
  • Choice of morning or afternoon departure

After pickup at the cruise ship dock or in town, ride in your comfortable van up the South Klondike Highway, which climbs from sea level to 3,300 feet (1,005 meters) to cross over White Pass Summit.

Drop down into the sub-arctic alpine tundra of Canada's Tormented Valley, stopping at scenic viewpoints along the way. Have time to look for wildlife such as black bears, grizzly bears, caribou, moose, lynx, and rabbits, and get spectacular photo ops of the landscape.

Near Tutshi Lake, pull into the musher’s camp for your ride on the dogsled. Play with fluffy Alaskan Husky puppies as you learn about what it takes to raise a good sled dog. Then take a 1.5-mile (2.4-km) spin on the dog sled with a musher and dogs that have competed in the famous Iditarod and Yukon Quest sled dog races. Your dog sled ride takes place on the dirt, not snow, as northern summers have warmer temperatures.

After your ride, stop for photos at the "Welcome to the Yukon" sign at the edge of Tutshi Lake, then return to Skagway at the end of 4.5 hours.
