Driver/Guide was attentive in drive around St Lucia
, Aug 2019
VIP time of about 5 hours to see fishing village, Anse-La-Ray, the Grand & Petit Pitons, the Blackwater Mineral Bath next to a volcano in heavy morning showers, and finally the Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens were quite a positive experience. The on and off showers made the Tet Paul Stairway to Heaven nature walk muddy and impassable in the fog and mist of the rainforest. John, our driver/guide prepared the black clayey mud for us in the warm mineral baths despite the heavy rain. Best of all our Caribbean cruise stop excursions.

Pick up arrived on time but driver difficult to understand, provided us with little information and our party of 4 found that we were accompanied by a family of 4. The tour, once we reached Soufierre was good, but the reason for bathing costumes had not been made clear. The price of the lunch at $20pp was not what we wanted and again had not been made clear by our driver, prior to booking.

Gary, from Paradise Excursions, gave us a fun filled fabulous tour which included Tet Paul, a mud bath, a waterfall and lots more. He was so informative and shared his love of St. Lucia. We tasted delicious banana products as well as rum products. After an amazing time on St. Lucia, we were returned to our ship with time to spare. No worries.
Fantastic Guide!!!

I wish i could give John more than 5 stars! Our guide was from St. Lucia, and it was apparent that he knew the island (location, vegetation, attractions, cuisine, etc) really well. We really enjoyed our day, John really made us feel like we got to experience the island. Would HIGHLY recommend this tour if you are going to St. Lucia!
I would not recommend this tour...

I would not recommend this tour! Basically it's a taxi ride. We had a horrible experience which I was very disappointed by due to the high ratings from others. First, pick up was at 9 am which was confirmed by message and email, we did not get picked up until 10:45. Over an hour and a half waiting for him outside in the sun and heat and pushy taxi drivers and tour guides! He lied to us repeatedly when we called by saying he was 5 minutes away, leaving others who did not show, just around the corner, wait across the street. At about 10:30 he stopped answering the phone. When we were finally about to pay someone else he showed up and said he would explain. Instead he threw us in a van with another driver and no explanation was given. The new driver with a van load said he was simply trying to help and does not know anything about being late. I believe John was simply overbooked because their were 3 cruise ships in! I think John should limit his tour to however many fit in his van! Finally 30 minutes into the drive we stopped at the scenic point and John apologized saying that he was waiting for other people. However due the 2 1/2 drive to the volcano area to already be 90 minutes late made for a much shorter trip and we were not able to enjoy as much! There was not an opportunity to get snacks, drinks or lunch so I am very glad we brought some from the ship! There was rum on the way back which was delicious! It was a rainy day and the stairs at Tet Paul were a little more rugged due to that. You are climbing over rocks and areas where there is a small piece of wood on the end to make the stair and keep the mud in. Very uneven and something for elderly or people with balance issues to keep in mind. Gorgeous views! I did not know that the entrance fee here was not included so bring money for Tet Paul, the volcano and anything else because the ONLY thing you are paying for is the guide and van! I thought only the optional entrances would be excluded but not ALL entrance fees! Beautiful country and views! Next time I am walking outside and arranging a tour straight for the Volcano and not doing a group thing where you are at the mercy of whenever others feel like showing up! Save your money!

TOUR OPERATOR COMMENTARY: Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear our tour did not meet with your expectations. Your experience is not what Paradise Excursions strives for in customer service and we are always looking to improve and grow as a tour operator. Unfortunately, the late start of the tour on that particular day was due to another party showing up late and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We are always ready to go the extra mile to make a wonderful experience for all our customers and hope you will consider touring with us again in the future.

Enjoyed seeing St. Lucia. Our tour guide 'John' was terrific. Very knowledgeable and he genuinely wanted us to have a great experience. Enjoyed the short hike very scenic and the waterfall. Our timing was perfect as we were the only ones at the waterfall for a few minutes, and then a whole bunch of other waterfall seekers arrived. Would have given 5-stars, but their was one rather significant issue with an overbooking of the vehicle. The van used had room for 7 passengers. Our family of 4 was booked along with another group of 4. 8 passengers and 7 seats made for a very squished and uncomfortable tour. We made it work as my youngest daughter 12 spent most of the drive seated on the floor in front of us. Even still we were all squished, as frankly the van would have comfortably seated 5 passengers. It just took away from our ability to enjoy the drive. On the positive, we enjoyed sampling the various Rum's and bought some Banana jam to bring back home.

Good tour. Turned out to be a private tour of the island as the other people did not show up. Our tour driver John is as.previously stated on many tours, is excellent. He is very flexible as to what we did and catered it to our interests. The Tet stairway is amazing So close to the Pitons and the ideal place to take pictures away from the crowds. We had it to ourselves. It does cost an additional 10 pp at site which I didnt realize beforehand. Guide there was also wonderful We had been to mud bath and volcano before so skipped that. I asked to go to a waterfall which he cheerfully complied. There was also a charge of 3pp there and that was pretty hokey. He talked to us about trying to help the youth of the island by increasing jobs for them. He is a very caring nice guy. He is outside the complex and not so easy to find but any of the other quides happily helped us to find him. Just ask for Paradise tours. People called him Tet John

I really liked Gary our guide/driver, he did an excellent job. I enjoyed every stop and hike at get Paul where the view of the Pitons were amazing! Then we did the mud baths/sulphuric bath and the water fall which were very rushed. We had cruise people on our tour and they harassed Gary the entire time because they were so concerned about missing the boat. I would highly recommend this adventure but perhaps it should be an earlier pick up time and longer.

Like everyone else here, our tour with John was fantastic. We had a group of 7, so it ended up being just us. It was a little tricky connecting in the morning...there are two exits to the port, and I had called once a week before but probably should've called again to iron out meeting details. Other helpful tour guides standing around assisted in our connection, which I'm so grateful for. Anyway, John is very knowledgable having grown up in the area and made lots of stops to take photos at pretty spots, places of note and to sample local produce. We wanted to see the Tet Paul nature trail, so that was our top priority which is FANTASTIC, but we also had time to swing by and get the volcano walking tour which I also recommend. Our party was a pretty paranoid about making it back to the ship on time, but I assure you that you can trust this man to get you back. We're a little sad that we didn't trust him more at the time, because I know we could've seen more than we did. John is very conscientious about what the clients want. We will definitely be using him again should we make it back to St. Lucia, and I hope we do. Beautiful island with such unique terrain. As a side note, most of our party gets motion sickness pretty badly. However, we all took the max amount of Dramamine for kids and Bonine for adults and the incredibly windy road didn't bother us.
