Nocturnal Walking Tour of Shinjuku

Meet your guide in the early evening outside of the JR Shinjuku station’s west exit. As the sun begins to slide toward the horizon you’ll make your way to the observation deck of the neighborhood’s Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.

Spend 30 minutes enjoy the sublime nocturnal views from this noticeable Shinjuku structure, learning about Tokyo’s unique government structure from your guide. Then head back to ground level as you proceed to Omoide-Yokocho (Memory Lane), a strip that’s lined with tasty Japanese eateries serving local favorites like ‘yakitori’ and ‘oden.’ You’ll snack on an included light meal accompanied by a drink.

Continue your walk by proceeding to the eastern end of Shinjuku, known locally as Kabukicho. Get lost amidst the flurry of neon signage as you snap photos of famous landmarks like the Godzilla on top of Toho Cinema. Your nocturnal wanderings will continue from there to the famous Golden Gai nightlife area, where you’ll spend 20 minutes learning about the tiny drinking dens that populate its narrow streets.

Make one last stop at the Hanazono Shinto Shrine, offering a glimpse of the history of Shinjuku, before returning back to your original starting point at 9pm.
