A great experience! The soba chef...

A great experience! The soba chef was very nice and took the time to guide us through the entire process. The interpreter did a great job as well! It felt like having dinner at your grandparents house. A unique way of exploring Japanese cuisine.
The Master and his wife are so warm and down-to-earth! We enjoyed every minute of his funny, hands-on, detailed、authentic teachings & explanation of soba-making! The guide/interpreter was great and the people we met in the class were also very nice. If you want to experience a little of
Absolutely one of the best experiences in Japan! You do not have to be a cook or home chef to enjoy this and I promise you will not taste better soba anywhere. Our guide, Roland, met us at the nearby train station and led us on a 10 minute walk to the residence of our soba master and his wife. All three of our hosts made us comfortable and were quite charming. You begin with a short lesson on soba's primary input, the buckwheat plant. Buckwheat is not a grain so it is gluten free and has many health benefits you will learn about. Next, you watch the soba master prepare the noodles beginning with mixing the dough, then the rolling and finally the fine cutting into noodles. Trust me when I say this is true theater. Then its your turn to put on an apron and create your own soba noodles. Our hosts were extremely helpful and supportive all through the process allowing this to be fun even for the person whose idea of cooking is glancing at the kitchen at the drive-thru window. The finale is a wonderful meal of all the noodles prepared, including your own, as our master shows you the proper technique for cooking them. The typical class is two to four people, ours was just two, which enhances the experience and connection with your hosts. This was a very unique and memorable experience unlike any other you will have in Japan.
