The Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda, also called the Golden Rock is one of Burma’s most sacred Buddhist sites. The huge gold-leafed boulder balances precariously above you on the edge of a cliff. Topped with its glittering stupa, it's said to house a single Buddha hair that maintains its equilibrium. The rock has mysteriously remained in this fragile position despite the area suffering from major earthquakes in the past. Another reason to make the journey is the panoramic 360 degree views of the surrounding Mon State mountains from the summit.
