The Basics

While the Sagrada Familia looms large over Barcelona—it’s visible from many parts of the city—the cathedral should be seen up close and from within to truly be appreciated. Visitors can tour the interior on their own, on a guided tour, or with an audio guide. It’s also possible to take an elevator up one of the towers for sweeping views over the city.

Just about every sightseeing tour in Barcelona includes a stop here, as do hop-on hop-off bus tours, which also stop at Park Güell, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, and Plaça de Catalunya. It’s possible to combine a visit to the Sagrada Familia with a half-day trip to the nearby mountain abbey of Montserrat or the medieval city of Girona.

Thank you Giovanni
Our host Giovanni made this long tour interesting and uplifting treating every member of us like a family. He found a really good place for group lunch where we all were able to know each other better. This whole day was fun with a lot of information and joy.

Skip the Line: Park Guell and La Sagrada Familia Guided Tour
Our tour guide was Delores and she was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about both and park and La Sagrada Familia. There was no question asked that she didn’t know the answer. She pointed out the uniqueness of both places which would not have been known on our own. The only negative is that is is 4 hours over lunch time so be prepared to go the whole time without much of a break . There is a small snack area at end of Park Guell but don’t have much time there. Highly recommend.

Sagrada Familia: Fast Track Guided Tour with optional Tower
Our tour of Sagrada Familia was the highlight of our time in Spain. Our guide, Carlos, brought the building to life with the details he shared and made the experience so much more interesting than if we had toured on our own. Definitely include tour access to enjoy beautiful views of the city.

Skip The Line : La Sagrada Familia Guided Tour
Our tour guide was Marta from BarnaWalks. Marta was exceptional and her knowledge of La Sagrada Familia we excellent. We had 2 young children 11 and 9 on the tour and Marta also kept the tour interesting for them. The overall tour was excellent and I would definitely recommend Marta and BarnaWalks for your tour. Sagrada Familia and Gaudi Private Tour with Skip the Line Tickets
Juan was a great your guide. Unfortunately, because of personal issues with nausea, we were not able to complete the walking tour of the gaudi buildings and had to return to the ship. After a brief rest and with help of some medication, we were able to meet Juan at the basilica and complete the tour of the Sagrada familia! There are no words to express this experience other than breath taking!

When to Get There

The Sagrada Familia is open throughout the year but can be extremely busy in summer, so a skip-the-line ticket is recommended. The facade looks markedly different when illuminated at night than it does during the day, so plan for at least a short visit during both periods. Note that the basilica holds an international mass each Sunday morning in several languages; entrance is free, but space is limited.

Visiting the Sagrada Familia Museum

The basement beneath the passion façade houses a museum covering the temple's construction through drawings, photographs, and plaster models. Entry to the museum is included in basilica admission, and visitors can see the working modeling studio where Gaudi’s restored maquettes are reproduced to aid in the structure’s ongoing construction.
