Experience the calving glacier that every day throws many tons of ice in the fjord at Eqi, 80 km north of Ilulissat. Millions of tiny air bubbles with compressed air are cracking in huge explosions – forced in the fiord by the ever floating ice stream. Eqi is one of the few places where it is possible to experience a calving glacier at close range, as conditions allow to get close to the glacier. Of course, at a safe distance where you can both see and hear the spectacular scenario. The trip goes north from Ilulissat, and up through the beautiful Ataa fiord surrounded by high mountains. When you round the last headland and the Eqi glacier appears - a new world opens up. It is difficult to understand that the glacier front is 4 km wide. But the closer we get to the glacier, the more you will se how big the Greenlandic nature is. Many say that this trip to the Eqi glacier is one of their highlights from the trip to Greenland.
