The Haute Provence offers impressive Canyons, the Gorges du Verdon, dug by the river of the same name. You will discover the huge lake of Sainte Coix and stop in magical places in the heart of nature. You will enjoy the Grand Canyon of France, along with a visit to the 16th century village Castellane (gateway to the Gorges of the Verdon, nestled at the foot of its famous Roc) and pottery-centric village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie (the Capital of Fayence) and famous lavender fields (June-August).
Scenery is excellent, A+. Little villages are nice stops, also. This was a trip that we would not have attempted as independent travelers with a rental car due to the switchbacks and rural setting. My only suggestion for improvement is that the guide, although friendly, acted entirely as a driver and provided no commentary - was not a professional guide, as anticipated. That aspect was disappointing and thus, I can't give the trip 5 stars.
