Depart your hotel in Dubai by air-conditioned coach and admire the desert views as you venture south to Abu Dhabi.
On route, pass the world’s largest man-made port at Jebel Ali and Dubai World Central Airport, and listen as your guide shares historical background on the UAE capital.
After about two hours, arrive and take in the city’s futuristic skyline: a crowd of glass skyscrapers soaring above the desert sands. Hear about the innovative architecture and Abu Dhabi’s super-charged rise to prominence after the oil boom of the mid-20th century.
Make your first stop at the city’s showpiece: the vast, modern Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, one of the world’s biggest. Head inside and admire the white marble domes, courtyards, and colonnades as you hear how the mosque is built on the burial site of the UAE’s founder, Sheikh Zayed.
Continue into the city center and see Union Square, a boulevard decorated with giant sculptures of UAE symbols, including a coffee pot and frankincense burner.
After taking photos here, admire the views during a drive along the Corniche, the main waterfront fringed by skyscrapers, palms and beaches.
Then, head for Abu Dhabi Heritage Village, a reconstruction of a traditional oasis village. View the displays, including Bedouin tents and falaj (irrigation channels) to learn about bygone life here, and explore the craft demonstrations and souvenir stalls.
Finally, enjoy free time for retail therapy at the Abu Dhabi Marina Mall, one of the city’s upscale shopping haunts. Delve into the designer stores, boutiques and restaurants here before returning to Dubai, where your tour concludes with a hotel drop-off.
