We toured the Garmisch-Partenkirchen...

, Jun 2018
We toured the Garmisch-Partenkirchen towns and Zugspitze Mountain with Jake Doherty, the owner of All Things Garmisch. The weather was not ideal for views from the mountain, so Jake improvised and modified the schedule to accommodate our family of 6, resulting in a terrific day for everyone. We visited the 1936 Winter Olympic ski-jumping venue, did a walking tour of Partenkirchen and learned the incredible history of the city, and let the kids ride the alpine slides before embarking on the lift to the summit. Although the Zugspitze was still covered by clouds which impacted the views from atop, Jake made the best of the situation as we took the cable car down into the gorge/glacier for lunch and some play time for the kids. After the Zugspitze visit, we returned to Garmisch for more history, the best chocolate store I've ever visited in my life, and eventually some food and beer in Garmisch at the end of the trip. Throughout the day, Jake was an incredible tour guide, appealing to the adults, teenagers, and younger kids with equal enthusiasm. Jake was part tour guide, part historian, and part comedian. I would highly recommend this private day tour, especially if you're fortunate enough to get Jake as your guide! Bill and Cathy
