A great couple of hours. Our guide Gabriel was very knowledgeable about Genoa. We went on the tour to see Genoa not particularly for the food, but it was very tasty. especially the onion focaccia. I have been to Genoa a number of times but after this I felt I now know it much better. Tip - take a bag - there is a lot of food so it would have been good to put some in a bag for later.
This tour gives us the opportunity to see places from a unique perspective, since you walk through small streets to reach the main attractions of the historic part of the city. Besides that, the guide has been living in Italy for a long time and she was perfect, providing us excellent local references. We tasted a lot of different food in charming coffee shops, bakery, the exquisite focaccia di Recco, a wonfderful gelatto in an alley near via Garibaldi! As for the drink samples, there was not the same variety.
I would give this 0 stars if that were possible. We were extremely disappointed, since we drove from Portofino to Genoa for this tour and the guide never showed up at the departure destination. We called the tour provider to inquire as to what was going on, and they did not know why the guide was not there. They asked us to wait at the meeting point a while longer to finally inform us 25-30 minutes later that the guide would not be present. Not only did we waste a 1/2 day that could have been so better spent, we also had to pay tolls and parking for nothing. The tour company should have advised us beforehand.
The tour was very well organized and enjoyable. Our guide Francesco was knowledgable, personable, and professional. We got to taste an abundance of delicious treats and walk it off afterwards in the beautiful city. The group size was small, which was perfect for us. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again in the future : - Anna, Ben, and Andrea
