Your 6-hour shore excursion begins at Mendenhall Glacier. Snap memorable photos of the glacier that stretches approximately 12 miles (19 km) long. Learn about its formation from the visitor’s center.

Continue to Auke Bay and step aboard a 48-passenger jet boat for a whale-watching cruise. The exterior observation deck and extra-large windows provide excellent viewing positions to spot humpback whales and other marine wildlife that your naturalist guide on board points out along the way.

Back on land, dig into an Alaskan salmon bake buffet, with traditional menu items that include grilled salmon, cheechako chicken, Tongass wild-rice pilaf, Chilkoot baked beans, White Pass pasta, salads, beverages, and a selection of other side dishes. Top off your meal with blueberry cake for dessert. Beer and wine are available for purchase.

Don’t miss the chance to observe a Tlingit Master Carver and his son at work. Watch as they carve into 10-foot-tall (3-meter-tall) cedar totem poles and fashion silver jewelry. Feel free to ask questions about their craft, and listen as they share Tlingit lore. You just might want to stop by the gift shop to pick up original works of art.

You’ll leave with lasting impressions of Alaska.

So many whales!! and a bear in the wild!

We barely noticed the cold drizzle due to the captain and the Naturalist, Sarah finding so many whales. Great day! We followed several throughout the morning. It was awesome and Sarah knew the names of the whales by their tails! The only bad comment I have is that the driver, Ashley, did not have alot to say about the city/surroundings and no microphone in the van. We had several really good guides at other excursions,so it was noticeable that she was not as good. The Glacier was spectacular! There was even a BEAR wondering thru the woods and crossing the street. The Rangers allowed us to get as close as was safe. The Salmon Bake was delicious!

This tour was absolutely amazing! You will not be disappointed. Watching the whales come up and then raise their tails was an experience everyone will enjoy. The beauty of the glacier was something to see. Great experience for the 14 of us.

We really enjoyed this excursion. It was well organized and we were given an appropriate amount of time to spend at each site. We really enjoyed the whale watching trip, during which we saw over a dozen whales! The time at the Mendenhall Glacier was nice too, where there were hiking trails and a visitor center with presentations by the park rangers. The only minor disappointment was the salmon bake. The food tasted good. However, I stopped eating my salmon after finding the 8th bone! It wasn't properly filleted. Overall, I would still recommend this tour.

bus to the whale watch had no working p.a. system driver had to talk really loud luckily we did not have a full bus or we would have missed all the commentary. Bus was very old too. Boat for whale watching did his best to get us to the whales. Tourist should be told one rarely sees a whale breach . Did see spouts and rolling whales from afar. Bring binoculars and zoom lenses on your cameras. Boats have to stay away for the safety of the whales and people have to understand that. Not enough time to see movie and exhibits at the mendenhall glacier which is amazing.

The Mendenhall Glacier stop was only an hour. It takes just about that much time to walk to the waterfalls so it that is what you want to do, you may want to consider a different tour that provides more time. Whale watching was terrific! The boat they use was designed specifically for this purpose and it was excellent. Our captain and naturalist were friendly and knowledgeable. Some of the whales are quite familiar to them and they have been named. Flame's fluke was beautiful. Some of the whales were quite a ways off and some were very close to the boat. The water was calm and the weather was fantastic on the day we cruised. The salmon bake was good. Being next to the stream where we could watch some of the salmon trying to swim upstream was cool. The cooks and the support staff were all friendly and helpful.

This was the highlight of our cruise in Alaska. We saw many humpback whales - even one that breached only about 100 yards from us. The glacier was impressive as well, and we thoroughly enjoyed the salmon bake to end our day!

Great whale watching. The boat was nice and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. We were super lucky to see so many whales. The salmon bake was tasty but we were there at an odd time so we almost had the place to ourselves.

Rained all day but didn't dampen the experience. If you want more time at Mendenhall Glacier, this is not your tour. Whale watching with Juneau Tours' Naturalist Tommy and Captain was awesome! They put us in the middle of 6 whales that put on a show. Full body breach 100 yards of the stern was the highlight! Salmon Bake was good.
