After meeting your guide at the Mt Roberts Tramway, board a bus to Auke Bay and admire the dramatic peaks and bay views along the way. From Auke Bay, step aboard a jet boat that accommodates a max of 30 passengers, meaning you’ll have space to walk around and enjoy unobstructed views. Make sure to try the snacks and beverages on board, including locally caught Alaskan salmon spread on a bagel, soft drinks, water, hot chocolate and coffee.
Take advantage of the provided binoculars, as your captain navigates the boat into Stephens Passage, Lynn Canal, Saginaw Channel and Favorite Channel. Your naturalist guide shares commentary about the whales that swim through the local channels and passageways.
Thanks to the growing whale population in Juneau, you’re guaranteed to spot whales in these waters, (In the unlikely event you do not, you’ll receive a refund.) Your captain takes you to prime locations of whale activity. You might see breaching whales, females with their young, pods and other wildlife like bald eagles and seals.
At the end of two hours, return sail to port, where transport takes you to the Alaskan Brewing Company. The Brew Crew explains the brewery’s history and gives you a peek at the original brewing system. Then, sample award-winning beer right from the taps, including Alaskan White Ale, Freeride APA and Alaskan Amber.
After the brewery tour, relax during the drive back to the Mt Roberts Tramway, with a complimentary tasting glass from the brewery to take home.
