Overview

A whale-watching cruise followed by a visit to Alaskan Brewing Company — don’t miss this combo tour featuring two of Juneau’s top attractions. Snap photos of whales breaching, whales on the hunt and sea lions soaking up the sun. A nature guide on board explains the wildlife you see along the way. Then, at the award-winning brewery, taste frothy beer, fresh from the tap.
  • A 4.5-hour whale-watching and brewery combination tour in Juneau, Alaska
  • Glide through Juneau’s Auke Bay on a small boat while watching wildlife
  • Learn about the whales, seals and birds you see from your naturalist guide
  • Enjoy a local snack of Alaskan salmon spread and refreshments onboard
  • Tour the famous Alaskan Brewing Company
  • Savor a variety of specialty beers and take home a glass to commemorate your experience
After meeting your guide at the Mt Roberts Tramway, board a bus to Auke Bay and admire the dramatic peaks and bay views along the way. From Auke Bay, step aboard a jet boat that accommodates a max of 30 passengers, meaning you’ll have space to walk around and enjoy unobstructed views. Make sure to try the snacks and beverages on board, including locally caught Alaskan salmon spread on a bagel, soft drinks, water, hot chocolate and coffee.

Take advantage of the provided binoculars, as your captain navigates the boat into Stephens Passage, Lynn Canal, Saginaw Channel and Favorite Channel. Your naturalist guide shares commentary about the whales that swim through the local channels and passageways.

Thanks to the growing whale population in Juneau, you’re guaranteed to spot whales in these waters, (In the unlikely event you do not, you’ll receive a refund.) Your captain takes you to prime locations of whale activity. You might see breaching whales, females with their young, pods and other wildlife like bald eagles and seals.

At the end of two hours, return sail to port, where transport takes you to the Alaskan Brewing Company. The Brew Crew explains the brewery’s history and gives you a peek at the original brewing system. Then, sample award-winning beer right from the taps, including Alaskan White Ale, Freeride APA and Alaskan Amber.

After the brewery tour, relax during the drive back to the Mt Roberts Tramway, with a complimentary tasting glass from the brewery to take home.

Not quite what we expected, seeing the tails from a distance compared to the whale jumping out of the water in the photos was kind of a let down. We understand you can control nature, just not as exciting as we had hoped. Staff was very knowledgeable and entertaining though. Oh and the smoked salmon snack mentioned an Alaskan treat, ended up being a small piece of regular old candy on our way off the boat...

This was a great excursion! We saw a group of about 8 whales and were fortunate enough to see one jump out of the water like the one in the picture! The tour guide was knowledgeable and fun! The brewery tour was not really a tour, but we got to hear all about the history of the brewery and the owners' philosophy. Bonus? Generous samples of good beer! Highly recommend this excursion!

Perfect day. It was nice to be on a boat that was not jam packed like the cruise ship tours. As a bonus we spent some time with 3 orcas. The crew was wonderful and gave us a good show. Weather was great as well, but that was just luck. The brewery tour was fun and informative. Really fun staff. This tour was a great value for the money. I just recommended this to a friend going in September.

The whales were a bit shy the day we went out, but saw enough to love the experience. The Brewery Tour was super fun - great host, with lots of information. A good selection of tasting and lots of choices on tap. A great day!

Whale watching was fantastic! Great crew! Brewery, blahhhhhhhhhh! Expected a tour of brewery. Not a lecture! Would pass on the brewery! Suggestion, I am handicapped and use a cane. The ramp to the boat was very steep and slippery, with no offer of help!
