On this 2-hour whale-watching cruise from Juneau, soak up photo-worthy moments like humpbacks breaching into the air, pods of killer whales on the hunt for prey and Steller sea lions basking in the sun. As your captain navigates from Auke Bay, a nature guide explains the wildlife you see along the way. While on board, enjoy delicious snacks like fresh Alaska salmon on bagels, along with coffee and hot chocolate.
  • A 2-hour whale-watching cruise from Juneau
  • Enjoy a postcard-perfect experience on Auke Bay in a jet boat
  • See killer whales, humpbacks, Steller sea lions and bald eagles
  • Expand your knowledge of sea life by listening to your naturalist guide
Pristine blue waters, breaching whales, bald eagles soaring overhead — these are just some of the reasons to sign up for this whale-watching tour in Juneau. Meet your guide at Mt Roberts Tramway and board a bus to Auke Bay. En route, you might just see fishermen at work as they bring in the day’s catch.

From Auke Bay, step aboard a jet boat that accommodates a max of 30 passengers, meaning you’ll have space to enjoy unobstructed views. Make use of the provided binoculars, as your captain navigates the boat into Stephens Passage, Lynn Canal, Saginaw Channel and Favorite Channel.

Rest assured you’ll sight whales in these waters, thanks to the growing whale population in Juneau. (In the unlikely event you do not see a whale, you’ll receive a refund.) Keep watch for breaching whales, females with their young, pods and other wildlife like bald eagles and seals.

In between sightings, nosh on snacks and beverages on board, including locally caught Alaskan salmon spread on a bagel, soft drinks, water, hot chocolate and coffee.

At the end of two hours, return sail to port, where transport awaits to take you back to the departure point at Mt Roberts Tramway.

Great excursion!
, Aug 2019
We used Viator to book this excursion while on a cruise to Alaska. The captain and tour guide were really good at their respective jobs. The ship was relatively small, making it more intimate than the larger vessels we saw going out. We saw many whales and learned a lot. Highly recommend.

Head waitress and waiter John were absolutely the very best. They were more than pleasant and extremely efficient. Our room steward was the best in our travel on the Princess Line

Bri and Sarah were a great crew and made sure that we saw whales on this excursion! The ladies were personable, knowledgeable and professional, especially when regarding safety. Lots of fun with this group and worth the trip!

Enjoyed this trip even though we only saw a few whales, mostly from a distance. Others on our cruise saw a lot more whales. This boat took us to a place where there were a lot of other boats, so I suspect at other times, there were more whales. The boat was adequate, but not very comfortable, Rather crowded.

This was a good tour...both staff on board we to see a few whales which was good, There was only 5 of us on the tour which was great..I would have hate to have the boat full as it wouldn't have been much fun as I think it holds only 16 people but not really much room to walk around. But we had a good trip.
