Upon morning pickup from central hotels in Kuching, meet your guide and make a vehicle transfer to the Matang Wildlife Centre, located about 40 minutes away in Kubah National Park.
Sarawak’s main site for wildlife rehabilitation houses orphaned and rescued sun bears, bear cats, civets, barking deer, sambar deer, porcupines, crocodiles and the beloved orangutan. Safely view the animals in spacious enclosures that mimic their natural rainforest habitats. You’ll learn about their plight and local efforts at reintroducing some of these animals to the wild.
Include a visit to the aviary for a look at brahminy kites, sea eagles, and a variety of hornbills. Follow up with lunch on-site and a guided trek on the Rayu Trail, which leads to the Kubah National Park headquarters.
You’ll hike through some of Sarawak’s most impressive rainforest scenery and pass jungle waterfalls along the way. Learn about myriad flora, including orchids, pitcher plants and rare species, from your guide.
The full-day tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
