Why Travelers Choose This Tour

According to UNESCO, Regensburg is the only authentically preserved large medieval city in Germany. This day trip ensures you see all the sights and takes the hassle out of arranging your own transport.
This full-day tour begins at München Hauptbahnhof, the main railway station in the city of Munich. Travel approximately 1.5-hour by train to the Bavarian city of Regensburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the only authentically preserved large medieval city in Germany.
Begin with a guided walking tour of the city’s Old Town neighborhood. Regensburg is the oldest city in Germany and a number of its historic structures span several thousand years, including ancient Roman, Romanesque and Gothic buildings. See landmarks like the Christmas Market at Neupfarrplatz, Old Town Hall and Regensburg Cathedral that still define the character of a town known for its tall buildings, dark and narrow cobbled lanes and strong fortifications.
Visit some more of Regensburg’s popular attractions, like the Old Stone Bridge that crosses the Danube River, linking the Old Town with Stadtamhof and historic Wurstkuchl, the oldest sausage kitchen in the world.
After the tour, enjoy some free time to explore the city at leisure, perhaps returning to Wurstkuchl for lunch.
The tour ends with a return trip to Munich.

This was a great day trip from Munich. Lucia was our guide for the English tour, and she was fantastic. She is very knowledgeable about the area, did a great walking tour, and was able to organize our small group during the train ride. Regensburg is a beautiful place to wander the narrow streets of history. Our only recommendation would be to upgrade the tour to first class on the train, even though it costs a bit more. It would just make the guide's job easier.

Great trip by crowded train with an energetic and knowledgeable guide named Lucia. She gave us a great walking history of the city and pointed out many interesting architectural sites along with explanations. We walked down many narrow byways and over to the river. We were then given time on our own to explore. It was December and we visited three Christmas markets with the biggest and liveliest being the one just down the main street from the large Dom. An interesting city with well-preserved charm as well as modern development.

My biggest beef with any of the tours by train run by Radius from Munich: why is the travel always by second class? First class seats which are much less crowded cost maybe 5 Euros per person more - well worth the cost since our trip was so crowded that other passengers were standing in the aisles making bathroom access difficult. The ride is about an hour an a half. Five Euros is cheap for an upgrade.

Nice one day excursion with knowledgeable guide to point out key sites and facts about this ancient, historic town. The train ride was a nice way to get there and back with a relaxing chance to see the country side. Would have liked a couple more hours to walk around and see things at the end on your own time to make it less rushed. Back at the Munich train station, a nice way to end the day is to visit the Augustina beer garden just a few blocks from the train station.

Repair work on the stone bridge was unlucky. Oldest sausage stand was ok. Guided portion was informative.

There is a lot of history in this town. The trip is an easy 1 hour train ride from Munich. Our guide Keith has extensive knowledge of the area. Plan on the trip using up most of one whole day, but it is well worth it. If you are expecting a medieval city, you will be surprised by how modernized the whole town is now. Very safe clean city. The walking tour was a full 1.5 hour, so not ideal for small children or people who are limited in mobility.

This tour was a very good day trip. Regensburg was very beautiful and wear preserved. The history is so wonderful. We were very well served by our guide who had a lot of charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent.
