Returns to original departure point
Your aerial adventure begins with pick-up from your central Queenstown hotel and a short transfer to the airport in time for departure. After meeting your pilot and receiving a safety briefing, jump aboard your fixed wing aircraft and take off over the city.

Listen to your pilot’s on-board commentary as you soar over the Paradise region, made famous in films such as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, then fly above the vast Skippers Canyon and the glittering Donne glacier. Enjoy spectacular aerial views of Milford Sound as you come in to land at the edge of the fjord.

Your pilot will escort you to the boat docks for the second part of your adventure—a cruise around Milford Sound. Marvel at the dramatic UNESCO-listed landscapes as you cruise around the fjord and look out for wildlife such as fur seals, dolphins, and Fiordland crested penguins. Along the way, spot natural wonders like the 525-foot (160-meter) high Bowen Falls, the striking hanging valley of Sinbad Gully, and the snow-capped peak of Mitre Peak, one of New Zealand’s most photographed landmarks.

At the end of your cruise, return to the airfield for your return flight and enjoy an alternative route, passing over the Fiordland National Park and taking in dramatic views of the 1,904-foot (580-meter) high Sutherland Falls.

On arrival back in Queenstown, a driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.

An experience not to be missed!
Shivani

It was a really iconic experience. Jimmy, our pilot from the flight and cruise team was amazing. His commentary (as we climbed the majestic mountains and saw the unbelievably scenic views from so close to the majestic mountains) and his helpful manner was very professional. He had no co pilot today so I got the opportunity to fly in the co pilot sear which was such a treat! He also made sure we,all reached the cruise ship safely walking us through the short walk. The cruise itself was a great experience, the waterfall we went right under! And the amenities on the boat was all very comfortable . All in all, an amazing experience not to be missed!

8th Wonder of the World - the BEST way to see it!!!

This half-day trip was the highlight of my visit to Queenstown! Milford Sound was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen - and I was able to see it from above and up close on the water. The staff and pilot (Tom) from Air Milford were extremely friendly and knowledgable about the area, as well as everyone on our boat cruise with Southern Discoveries. The size of our group was about 12 people, so it was not over-crowded and felt very exclusive, which was awesome. This is a must do to experience Milford Sound!

Extraordinary Exciting Experience
Maria

Travelled to New Zealand for our 32nd wedding anniversary. Explored Hobbiton, amazed by the glowworm experience, impressive TranzAlpine ride to Arthurs Pass, breathtaking Mt Cook, picturesque gondola skyline and finally, the majestic Milford Sound. Our fly/cruise/fly tour with AirMilford to the Milford Sound was well organized, efficient, safe, impeccable service from the owners who were there to make sure that everything is taken cared of, the pilot who were very professional and flew us through the magnificent scenery safely, the staff at the reception who were so friendly, the brand new planes, everything was superb. It’s our first time to ride a small plane, quite excited but scared but thanks AirMilford, you made our travel and experience in New Zealand perfect.

Dear Maria, Thank you for taking the time to write such a kind and in-depth review of your experience with Air Milford on Viator. We are incredibly proud to hear that we were able to provide you with such a superb excursion to Milford Sound and that, in the company of some of New Zealand's most prestigious activities, that we stood out as a highlight! We try our best to exceed our guests expectations and are overjoyed that in this instance, we were successful. But, the lion's share of the praise must be given to our incredible local area, Milford Sound and the wider Fiordland & Mt Aspiring region, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site and now, once experiencing it up close & personal you know why! On behalf of the whole team here at Air Milford, thank you for choosing to fly with us and for your high endorsement to future travelers. All the best, Mary, Guest services, Air Milford.

NZ Must Do!

You can’t always get out there do to the weather, but if the weather is decent and you’re able to go, GO. The views are incredible, the scenery is unlike any other and the staff are great! Pictures just don’t do this place justice, it something you need to see to believe. Honestly one of the best experiences of my life.
icon Response from Host , May 2020
Dear Jesse_O, Thank you for sharing your review of Air Milford with the Viator community. We are incredibly proud to hear that we were able to host you on 'one of the best experiences of your life'! Milford Sound is an absolutely stunning destination, especially on a sunny day, but I do agree with you, pictures often struggle to do the majesty of the natural environment justice - you just have to get out there and see it for yourself in person. For future guest's benefit, regarding the weather dependent nature of the trip, we recommend booking in for your first available day in Queenstown, so that should poor weather intervene on your first day, you have maximum flexibility to move your booking to a following fine weather day. On behalf of the the whole team here, thank you for choosing to fly with Air Milford and all the best for your future adventures. Sincerely, Mary, Guest services, Air Milford.

Every aspect of our experience with our Milford Sound flight and cruise was exemplary! The staff were friendly, courteous and professional. The planes and cruise boats were spotlessly clean and well maintained. The commentaries were informative and fun. The entire experience was memorable for all the right reasons and will remain a highlight forever. I simply can’t recommend the entire team enough. Well done to all at Viator and Milford Sound.

A wonderful afternoon trip to Milford Sound by light aeroplane and cruise. The pilot was very informative during the flight, pointing out the individual mountains and lakes. Likewise, the ship's crew pointed out all interesting viewpoints. The scenery was spectacular and the whole trip a must do.

Fantastic view if you had the right seat
cheidi9

The views were great from the front seat and side seats. The middle seats shouldn't have been used as they were a waste. You couldn't take pictures or really see anything except from a very narrow window.
