Unbeatable panoramic views

Amazing panoramic views of the crater and lake from the top on Santa Ana volcano. The hike up only took us around an hour although we were going quite fast compared to other groups. This being a private tour you can set your own pace and leave early enough to miss the crowds which is great. After the hike we had lunch by the lake and a swim which was so refreshing. It also gave us a chance to mingle with locals who seem to love coming there for family day outs. Dio, our guide was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about El Salvador and gave us lots of insights to the culture and history etc.

Do not use this company.

I would not recommend this tour. Aa a solo traveller, I paid around USD 160 for a 7am private tour to avoid hiking in the midday heat and so I was able to go at my own speed rather than waiting for others. I am a keen hiker and therefore would prefer to hike with a group of the same standard and being very fair skinned I prefer to be out of the sun during the heat of the day - if this isn't possible I prefer to pay for a private guide. Unfortunately this company didn't honour the booking. They failed to notify me they had changed the pick up time (so I sat in reception for 90 minutes waiting for them and sending them emails trying to get a response) and the bus turned up full of people. If it was a group tour, why have I paid over double as a single person? The guide had no concept of the abilities of his group and left 2 people behind, separated from the group and meant the people at the front were standing at the summit for over an hour in the midday heat. The tour instructions said they provided water - they provided 1 bottle of water, but most of us were severely dehydrated by the time we got back to the bus and I had a migraine. We were then taken to a restaurant by the lake where the music was so loud you couldn't hear each other speak and that was on top of having a migraine. Overall a day trip I could really have done without. The tour company gave me USD100 back however, this meant that I paid what everyone else had paid rather than them actually providing compensation for what i regard as false advertising, not honouring your commitment and generally running a trip that was unsafe. A disgrace to the tourism industry in El Salvador and obviously, everyone loves sitting in reception waiting for their tour guide for 90 mins whilst on hols. Total let down and ruined what should have been a great day.

I am very sorry for your bad experience, however you are telling a lot of lies, first of all we do not have tours that exceed $ 160 per person, that tour you offered costs $ 125 and yet we have returned $ 100 for your "bad experience". On the other hand, for 20 years the Ministry of Environment of El Salvador, only allows the Santa Ana volcano to climb from 11 in the morning, however we as a company do everything possible to climb a little earlier. On the other hand you mention that we have only provided you with a bottle of water (1 littler) how many bottles did you want? Another detail that we want to clarify and apologize is for having added it to a group, they also hired a private tour but what happened is that we were in high season and there were no guides or vehicles in the country, and we did not want to cancel the tour so that You would have an experience in the country, we recognize that we made a mistake, but you also don't have to tell lies as you have said. We have practically returned all the money and you have done the tour with a small group, there were 5 people in your vehicle to say that you were in a big group and if you saw many people on the volcano it is because it is a tourist attraction. Again we ask for understanding. And as a Salvadoran micro company we will take this into account to improve and not fall into the same error ... And we also invite you to write your good experiences in El Salvador.
