This Mt Rainier day trip begins with a convenient hotel pickup in Seattle or near the SeaTac Airport. Then prepare for a narrated, scenic drive featuring Alder Lake Park and the town of Eatonville at the foothills of Mt Rainier.

Stop at Longmire, the visitor center at the southwest corner of the park, to explore their museum and National Park Inn. Visit Christine Falls, with one of the signature views in Mt Rainier National Park (look for the bridge). Then walk along the Nisqually River up to Narada Falls, considered the most popular waterfall in Mt Rainier State Park. It’s taller than Niagara Falls at 188 feet.

Then it’s off to the pinnacle event of the day: the view at Paradise, which is 5,400 feet above sea level. Purchase lunch here and take in the incredible view of Mt Rainier and the valley below. Be on the lookout for wildlife wandering around the mountain at any time.

During the wintertime, choose from an optional snowshoe or sled adventure, if conditions allow. During the summertime, simply enjoy the scene at Reflection Lake, which provides one of the most iconic views of Mt Rainier. It’s absolutely stunning. Be sure to bring a camera.

Finally, visit the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise to learn more about the history of Mt Rainier, including a brief film about it.

Then it’s back down the mountain to hit the road back to Seattle.

Beautiful landscapes and Fantastic time

I had a fabulous time. We went on several different hikes and the last one was a mile hike up the mountain to a peak where you can see everything. It started snowing and was just beautiful. We didn’t get to see Mount Rainier that day due to the snow and clouds but it was a great time. The tour guide was very interactive and gave us a lot of information. The only thing I was a little iffy on was he drove a little too fast for me, but the other people didn’t seem bothered so maybe I’m just getting too old.

It is hard to believe the snow has began in the lower parts of the park. You will experience something new every time you take the Mt. Rainier tour as it all changes depending on the season. Our guides are supposed to obey all traffic laws and we will address should we hear this was more than just a personal feeling. We appreciate you giving us a review!

Covid-19 Precautions Should Have Been Taken More Seriously
Daniel_T
, Oct 2020
Hello, My wife and I took the Mt. Rainer Seattle Tour on Saturday, October 3rd. While the scenery and weather were beautiful, we were deeply concerned by our tour guides' lack of care for precautions in regards to the Covid-19 pandemic. We were the first of 8 people to be picked up that day and we noticed that our tour guide was not wearing a face covering while driving in the bus in addition to the windows not being open until after several other couples had entered the bus. When I asked the tour guide to wear a mask, he replied that he wouldn’t wear one because he couldn’t talk into the microphone effectively with a face covering on. In addition to not wearing a mask while on the bus the tour guide did not properly enforce mask wearing for other tour guests. There was one couple that would frequently take off their masks or not wear their masks while on the bus and the guide made no effort to enforce mask wearing. The bus is an enclosed confined space, it should be where the most precautions are taken as it was the space on the tour where everyone is the most vulnerable. Please encourage all tour guides to enforce these basic precautions. Taking these precautions will help limit people's exposure to the Covid-19 virus and possibly save lives. Thank You

The driver was correct that while driving and giving narration they are not required to wear masks. Guests are required to wear masks. We have severely limited the amount of passengers allowed on board so they can social distance, similar to restaurant rules. I’m looking into the matter with the guide enforcing the state safety guidelines. The driver/guides first priority is paying attention to driving- So looking back to enforce Covid restrictions can be spotty at best. If a guest improperly takes off a mask off during the tour - guests should discreetly mention it to the guide at the next stop to remind the offending party of the rules -as we are all going through this together. Customers often snack and eat meals on board during drive time, as in a restaurant, masks have come off to eat.

The tour itself was awful
Olivia_T

Mount Reinier was absolutely beautiful! But the experience was very much marred by the tour itself— the experience with our tour guide, Lucas, was extremely upsetting and horrifying. Lucas continuously made offensive and extreme political comments through the microphone— even after I’ve asked for him to please remain professional. He shared liberally his political opinions much than giving information on the national park. “Thank God for the death penalty!” he quipped about arsonists. “They should be executed.” He went into lengthy monologues about mask wearing being a conspiracy theory and why climate change really isn’t a reality. He told us his wife is very anti vaccination (they have 3 kids) and why the Covid antibody test is the government’s way of policing the citizens. On a tour, as the tour guide, he preached nonstop about his personal political Ideologies. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE AND SHOCKING. When I shared that I live in NY, he said: your governor should be in prison. Without even knowing my governor’s name. He was unprofessional to say the least, extremely immature and rude, having regard for no one but himself, and dismissed all of my requests that he stay off politics.

We truly apologize for the behavior that you have mentioned took place on your tour. We will definitely be investigating this more and reaching out to other passengers as well. Please know that any views expressed are not of our Company's. We do ask that our guides do not discuss any political, personal opinions or offensive discussions during a tour and stick to tour narration only. We will be contacting you directly to discuss further.
