Discover Zhujiajiao water town, a silk museum, and the sights from Huangpu River on a 6.5-hour afternoon tour of Shanghai. With a guide, you’ll spend time in the ancient water town to wander over bridges and along its tree-lined rivers. Visit a silk museum to learn about the time-honored art of silk making, then finish with a river cruise. The experience ends with a drop-off in the vibrant Xintiandi area, home to many bars and restaurants.
  • Half-day afternoon tour of Shanghai with a guide
  • Visit the ancient Zhujiajiao water town on the outskirts of the city
  • Admire the historic streets, some of which date to the Ming and Qing dynasties
  • Call in at a silk museum to learn about silk making in the region
  • Cruise along the Huangpu River to see Shanghai from the water
Wait in your Shanghai hotel lobby for a pickup between 1:30pm and 2pm. If your hotel is not in central Shanghai, you’ll need to make your way to the Hotel Yun’s Paradise for a pickup at 12:30pm.
When your group is together, you’ll travel out of the center to your first stop: the ancient water town of Zhujiajiao. Often called the “Venice of Shanghai,” the town is loved for its historic bridges and narrow alleyways of water, shaded by leafy willow trees. Walk past courtyards and old stone streets that date back to the days of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
After 1.5 hours in the town, you’ll continue to a nearby silk museum for a half-hour visit to learn about the art and traditions of silk making in the area. Then, walk to the riverside for your hour-long Huangpu River cruise.
Take in the sights of Shanghai from the water as you pass along the river, then finish with a coach transfer to Xintiandi, a bustling pedestrianized area that’s lined with bars and eateries. It’s the perfect drop-off place if you want to experience the best of Shanghai’s restaurants and nightlife.

This tour could have been much nicer than it turned out to be.
The not so good bits.
There were 7 on the tour and we were in a combi style van. Well this looked good from the outside but the inside was atrocious. Very uncomfortable seats, felt like bones, and I'm sure the van had no springs. Every bump we hit jarred our joints.
Misinformation given from Lily our hostess. However, feel sure this was a language issue.
Dinner was second rate. We had a choice of sitting on the boat and eating pork and not being able to see the night lights, or visiting a restaurant and having a bigger variety, then going upstairs and standing the whole way on the boat. It transpired that the restaurant meal just wasn't that good. Didn't have much time to shop at the Bund because I'm assuming that choosing to eat at the restaurant technically took about an hour off our time.
The boat was crammed chokker with standing folk looking at the Shanghai skyline.
The silk museum, although interesting, was really just a con to get you to buy silk products.
The good bits.
We were driven back to our hotel even though the website said we'd have to make our own way back.
Lily tried, although I can't help but suspect they're all called Lily.
My general view is that it wasn't worth the money!
