We never got to the circus as our earlier tour to the water cities returned us to the hotel at 7:15pm and we were expecting to get back by 6pm....the venue was up to 30 minutes away and we were sad to miss the circus

Shanghai Circus World is a unique experience. Its a cross between a Cirque de Soleil show and an acrobatics show. With a little bit of the Beijing Opening Ceremony of the Olympics tossed in.

I saw many people take a tour to get here, but I'm not sure why. Its located next to the metro station called Shanghai Circus station and you just enter with your ticket. Or if you want you can take a taxi or DiDi Uber in China.

The acts in the show were amazing. Fun to watch and entertaining for the whole family. Although its not a circus, so little kids might be bored. Halfway through the show they have a 10 minute intermission. The show features live music and performer.

I would NOT recommend getting the VIP seats. I was in section A lower and four rows from the front. I could see the sweat on the performers. Tickets are not assigned ahead of time, so arrive about 30-45 minutes early to get good seats ask for close seats if possible.

As you enter they have snack stands with chocolate/candy, popcorn, soda, beer, water. As you leave they have some souvenirs.

There are some glaring issues with Shanghai Circus. Its touted as multimillion dollar tourist attraction. The best part were the performers. The sets they use were old and dated, costumes were dirty, seats were uncomfortable, bathrooms need improvements, and the entrance is nothing special. Its not like going to a theater in New York or San Francisco where they have a grand lobby, nice bar, well maintained seats, and new outfits for the performers.

With that said, I still highly recommend Shanghai Circus as a must see when your in Shanghai.

Great show. Very smooth process for getting tickets.

This was so amazing. First of all , as other reviews said, it is a small arena and you do not need to get the priciest seats. It was like Cirque de Soliel without the production values, but that is replaced by incredible acrobatic skills and a insane risk level. So much fun!

A beautiful show well worth a visit. The venue is only small so don't waste money on expensive tickets. We paid for the cheapest available on Viator and had a great view. It is easy to get to the circus by the Metro or we paid 40 yuan approx. 5 at the time for a taxi from the Bund. We arrived early to collect our tickets from the box office and then ate at the Mall 5 minuets down the road. The same tickets can be purchased at the venue for 150 yuan if you don't want to commit to a time before your visit.

This was a really impressive show. It was amazing and enjoyable, a highlight for our group. Easy to travel there using the metro and as others have said any tier allows great visibility. We used tier 3.
