Following the end of the Siege of Leningrad (1941-1944) this museum was established to memorialize and commemorate some of the darkest days in Russian history. Destroyed under the orders of Stalin, the museum was rebuilt in 1989 on a much smaller scale. Visitors will learn the dire situation faced by citizens of the city—then called Leningrad—as they held out against the Axis forces during World War II.
  • Visit the Blockade museum to better understand St. Petersburg history
  • See examples of anti-Bolshevik propaganda
  • Explore a recreation of a blockade era apartment
  • Exhibits are mainly in Russian, docents can help with translations
