This trip is well worth booking. Lunch was very tasty and good. Loved ending the trip with the river cruise back to Budapest.

This tour was ok except for the boring period in the river. Nice views when entering Budapest. The Tour guide was ok.

The driver was on time taking us to the bus. The guide on this trip was very cool, no humor and somewhat bossy. When we arrived at our destination up river, she insisted we not go off on our own until she finished her talk. This went on in Spanish for 10 minutes which most could not understand. On the boat trip back we saw her one time and she disappeared when we arrived back in Budapest without so much as a hope you enjoyed your tour or anything.

We really enjoyed our trip even though we got off to a bad start. We stood about waiting for our transport which did not arrive until we returned to our hotel reception and the young man rang the company to see what was going on, The bus had already left for the trip and the driver had forgotton to pick us up was what we were told, however the sent a taxi to get us we eventually got taken to catch up with the coach. It was embarrassing getting on the coach after everyone else had been sitting waiting for us to arrive. Neither the Driver or rep apolgised or gave us an explanation. Once we got over the embarrasment and stress it caused we did enjoy our day. The trip itself was really good, beautiful scenery, we enjoyed our lunch although when got to the restaurant it was not very well organised as regards getting people seated.

Pick-up was on time and bus was nice. Cathedral was Rome quality. Very much worth seeing. Visegrad castle was nice. The food at the restaurant was so-so, but the soup was great!. The small town we went to was quite nice and since we weren't there for an extremely long time it was good enough to do some tourist shopping, exploring, and getting a snack or drink. The boat ride back to Budapest was nice. All-in-all a nice day of activities. I would recommend it to anybody wanting to get out of town for a day.

The Danube is such a wonderful river, one has to see it and hear about it's great history. Nowhere better than on this amazing trip.

We are rating this 5 stars simply because this was a great value and convenient option to see a couple small Hungarian towns and visit Slovakia for a few minutes. We had a great time on this tour!

The tour guide seemed like a lovely person but we did not feel it added much to the experience, so we were glad that we were given tons of free time to roam around in each place. The locations the tour stopped in were beautiful. It would be helpful if the tour provided some sort of pamphlet with recommended areas to visit in each town, perhaps.

The provided lunch we thought was very tasty, and we requested a vegetarian option and there was no issue.

We rode on a large bus for most of the tour, and then took a boat back on the Danube, which gave the trip even more value.

The only minus was that we waited outside for our scheduled pickup, and after 20 minutes the cab hadn't arrived to our airbnb address a very central location and easy to find. We only had cell service using wifi, so we went back upstairs into our airbnb and called the contact, who put us on hold and called the driver, and then told us the taxi was there. We went back outside and he pulled up shortly after, and it turned out he was waiting at the wrong address. This added about 30 minutes of confusion to the start of our day, which was a little annoying, but not the end of the world. This was our only complaint - an organizational issue - and the rest of the tour was totally worth the minor annoyance.

Our guide was knowledgeable . Not a lot of personality, but I learned a lot, I would take this tour again

We took this tour on Easter Sunday, so that may have affected our experience. For example, we took a 20-minute break for coffee on the way to the Basilica in Esztergom in order to let the long Easter mass conclude. Then we drove over the bridge into Slovakia for beautiful views of the Basilica. Once at the cathedral, we went up to an overlook before heading into the church itself. We had enough time to wander around the main cathedral but not enough time to climb up to the viewing area or explore the crypts.

The biggest disappointment of the day was Visegrad. The tour description said stopping to explore the medieval fortress of Visegrad and I didn't do any further research. I expected to actually go inside the fortress. Instead, we had a lovely view of it - from the next slope over as we ate lunch. The best part of lunch was the opening venison soup. Our chicken and potato entree was flavorless and the dessert was left practically untouched by the majority of our group. The guide went off on her own during this time so maybe she's not aware how bad the food is. Or maybe she knows, and she opted to go find something tastier.

We ended in Szentendre. It's a colorful little shopping village and I wish we'd been able to have lunch here on our own instead of the lunch in Visegrad - there were several restaurant options that looked interesting. Most people bought souvenirs. Options range from authentic jewelry and porcelain to the usual cheap magnets. We had more than enough time there before boarding the bus back. I can see how nice it would be to end with the river cruise back to Budapest during other times of the year.

Our guide I missed her name was informative, though not overly enthusiastic or friendly. Early on, she scolded two passengers for carrying on a conversation quietly in Polish, telling them they had to stop because they were confusing her as she translated her commentary into four languages. While her request may have been legitimate, it set a weird tone for the day.

It was a nice tour overall, but I would recommend taking one of the options that skips Visegrad.
