Thanks to our superb tour guide, Andrea, this was the best tour of our trip. He was knowledgeable, interesting, and passionate about all things Venice. He made our two hours totally memorable, and I would go again just to learn more about these two stunning historic buildings. Highly recommend!
The guide was enthusiastic and funny! It was a bit late in starting however it was a good tour especially on a rainy day when it started. Doge’s Palace was the best part of the tour. Keep your ticket as this gets you in other museums in Venice. Recommend skip the line as we had no issues.
This tour was a gift for a special friend on her honeymoon. We had taken this tour back in August and decided to purchase it for our friend. It is very well researched and we enjoyed candid conversations with the guide, who was very knowledgeable and proud about the history of the Venetian people.
Allesandro was a very good, friendly and knowledgeable guide and the tour was very informative. The star rating has been given for the content and the guide but not the organisation . Our criticism is that whilst its called the Skip the Line tour, we waited in a long line for 36 minutes to go onto the Doges Palace. All those in front of us had a similar , pre booked tour ticket and the fault lies with the Tour operators.......we met in St Marks Sq. at 1045 to start a 2 hour tour but unfortunately so did many other companies hence the long lines to access the Palace. The same with St Marks Basilica although line moved more quickly. In fairness to Allessandro he extended the tour to take account of the queues but whilst that was appreciated , had it been the day before we would have had to miss St Marks as we were on a time bound schedule. It is appreciated that this is rightly linked to security ...we fully understand that...however organisation at th Doges Palace was abysmal and the security check very poor. ....more a quick glance. The main issue was that it was just one unregulated queue until almost the front when some barriers attempted to separate those with / without tickets. If tickets are to be sold in advance for tours such as the Skip the Line tour then some idea of just how many people may descend at any one time with similar tickets should be understood. .....given the reliance on tourism in Venice this would benefit both the tour organisers and buildings .There were just 4 of us in our group and we all felt that the title of the tour , for which we felt we had paid a premium, was not representative of what we received.
It was wonderful to be able to by pass the long queue of waiting tourists to enter both the Palace and the Bascilica. Worth the tour cost. The guide was very knowledgeable and the tour through the Palace was very comprehensive. The walk through the bridge of sighs and into the cell area was a highlight. Great photo opportunity from inside the bridge looking out! I felt that the time spent in the Bascilica was short and seemed to be just tagged on at the end of palace tour. The tour company would benefit from better organisation in the meeting area as hundreds of people were waiting for groups to be organised and listening equipment to be handed out. Much confusion. We seemed to be waiting for too long in the hot sun.
An excellent tour with an extremely helpful and knowledgeable guide. I have a problem climbing stairs and she arrange for an elevator for me. The large crowds in the Basilica slowed us down so we could not complete the tour in the time allowed.
