Gondolas have been used to navigate Venice’s watery ways for more than 1,500 years and are still locally handcrafted using time-honored methods. Your romantic journey aboard one of these traditional vessels begins at Campo San Luca in central Venice, where you’ll board a private gondola and meet your friendly gondolier. Choose from an afternoon or evening departure to suit your schedule. Relax into the comfortable seats as your standing gondolier skillfully navigates the famed Grand Canal. Soak up the passing scenery of Gothic palaces and historic homes as you glide beneath stone bridges and into the quieter canals of Venice’s backstreets. To add to the enchanting atmosphere, an on-board singer and musician (or, in some cases, your gondolier) will serenade you with a selection of Italian ballads. Musicians are usually guitarists or accordion players. After 35 memorable minutes, say farewell to your gondolier back at the original departure point and continue on your own Venetian adventure with amore in your heart. Price listed is per person based on four passengers per boat.
This was a "bucket list" experience for me. My husband, 9 year old son and I finished our 10 day Italy trip with 3 days in Venice as a celebration of my 50th birthday and our 20 year wedding anniversary. We booked a private gondola ride to depart about an hour before sunset (for the best lighting), with an onboard musician (accordion player) and singer. We met at the Bucintoro Viaggi Agency about 20 minutes before our scheduled timeslot and were led to our departure point about 10 minutes away, on foot of course. I'm an emotional person to begin with, but when the music and singing started, I was just a puddle! I cried almost the entire time. It was so incredibly romantic and breathtaking. The weather had cooled down to a perfect temperature and the sunlight hitting the buildings and the water were so picturesque- like a postcard. The musicians were happy to take some photos of us throughout the experience and even took requests. "O Sole Mio" is so typical, but I asked for it, and boy- did they deliver! We glided along the smaller canals and onto the Grand Canal as well, so we got some amazing photos and left with an incredible once-in-a-lifetime memory to last forever.Thank you for making our dream come true.
This tour was definitely the highlight of my trip. I am unable to express how wonderful this experience was. The singer was amazing. He had a beatiful and astonishing voice. The musician was excellent. They both were extremelly friendly and attentive. It was a little pricy, but it was worth every penny! I will be back for more!!!!
Absolutely amazing. The singing and music was the perfect touch. Everyone around the canal was stopping to take pictures of us on the gondola. We only saw a couple with the serenade the whole time we were in Venice. I would highly recommend this
This was one of the highlights of the trip for me and my family. We were serenaded by a male singer and a woman who played the accordion. Both were very good. One of the songs was Volare, and the singer encouraged us to join in the chorus, which we were happy to do. It was a lot of fun and a great way to end our trip. Some may consider it cheesy and expensive, but when in Venice...
This was one of the planned highlights of our trip and we had invested in it accordingly. We found the meeting point and waited to meet an agent who took us to a boarding point where we waited for a while to get to our gondola. It took a while. When we got on the trip was special, we had a guitarist and a lady singer who serenaded us on a half hour tour through the canals. We did feel privileged and special whilst we were there
My wife and I were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary so decided what better way than a gondola ride with a serenade. It was amazing...with an accordian player and a singer, my wife and I and the gondolier we passed through the quiet canals of Venice. People on the bridges we passed under took pictures and cheered and some even tossed long stemmed roses to us...truly an amazing experience!
