Life Along the Loop The 28-mile (46-km) circular train has 39 stations and the loop connects several satellite towns and suburban neighborhoods. Riding this local commuter train, the railway network for the Yangon Metropolitan Area, provides a genuine experience of Yangon. Even better, your guide can show you hidden gems that would be difficult to locate on your own while explaining unfamiliar sights and customs. Start your half-day tour by making your own way to the Asia Plaza Hotel to meet your guide and small-group companions.

After introductions, walk over to the Central Railway Station to board the circular train. Begin your journey out of the city center to see an authentic slice of Yangon and its colorful urban lifestyle. The entire loop takes about three hours, however your group will get off at certain stops to explore local attractions. At Da Nyin Gone Station, disembark to visit a bustling local market for about 45 minutes, checking out the food stalls and experiencing the rhythms of daily life. Your guide points out items that are considered essential to daily life, and you might purchase refreshments from one of the local vendors. Next up, return to the train and ride to Yangon’s downtown. Have a stop for a tasty lunch of local cuisine. The last spot will be the largest Cathedral in Myanmar- St.Mary Cathedral.

By the end of your tour, enjoy a deeper appreciation of Yangon’s rich cultural heritage, including its colonial past, impressive architecture and spiritual traditions.

This was our best tour in Myanmar! Our guide was excellent. We were the only non-locals on the train and enjoyed the opportunity to meet our fellow travelers. We stopped to tour a large market, where the guide explained about local foods and customs. We also visited a small cafe for refreshments. On re-boarding the train, we found it was packed with locals and their large sacks and baskets of purchases. The carriage was crammed and many had to stand. I offered my seat to an old lady, who we chatted to with the help of our guide, who translated, and discovered she was actually considerably younger than me! Everyone was good natured and friendly, even though they could not speak with us. We made a second stop to visit the cathedral, which was interesting.

Great experience of travelling like a local, meeting the locals and tasting local food. Myet was very knowledgeable about Yangon and ensured he provided us information along the way. The market was packed with vendors selling an array of colourful fruits and vegetables. Would highly recommend

This was a tour I was excited about from the first time i saw it. I was not disappointed. If experiencing local culture and lives are important to you, i’d highly commend this tour. One of the more fascinating we’ve ever taken.

Very interesting tour, and although you can do the circular train yourself it's much more interesting with the knowledgeable guide that can answer so many questions about day-to-day life in Yangon.

The train ride itself is a full-on slice of life of what it means to be an average Myanmar citizen, going through rural neighbourhoods and market places. It's a must do for any visitor for Yangon. But with a flat fee of 200 kyats 15 cents US per ride for the average commuter, it's hard to justify the price tag of this tour. Visitors spend 3 hours riding on the train itself - 1.5 hours between each stop, which is too long and could've been broken up by more interesting stops. The two stops made - one to visit a market and the other to have lunch - are interesting but not fascinating. The guide is enthusiastic and friendly but didn't add much to the tour in terms of knowledge.

this is a must do , while in Yangon there were only two off us on this day and are guide was peter win who was a excellent guide
after meeting peter at are meeting point , we took a short walk to the train station , as we were going past all off the different stations , peter was pointing things out to us and explain what they were , while travelling on the train , loads of local vendors were walking though the train selling there local produce , we stopped halfway and was taken around a local market , before continuing on the train
at the end of the train journey we were then taken to a local restaurant to try the local food
I would definitely recommend doing this tour if you want to see local Yangon life
