Escape to the country with this delightful day-long tour from Melbourne. After morning pickup at Federation Square or your Melbourne hotel, relax in a comfortable air-conditioned coach as the urban bustle gives way to unspoiled greenery (see Hotel Pickup tab and Itinerary for more details).

After a 25-mile (40-km) drive to the Dandenong Ranges, stop at Grants Reserve mountain café to observe some of the native bird species, including cockatoos and crimson rosellas.

At the neighboring outpost of Belgrave, climb aboard the well-preserved Puffing Billy steam train — one of the oldest steam trains in Australia. Enjoy fresh mountain air as you chug along through the lovely Sherbrooke Forest toward Menzies Creek.

After your ride, hop back on the coach for a scenic drive to the Yarra Valley — Victoria’s beloved wine region. Stop at Rochford Winery where you can enjoy an optional 2-course lunch with a wine pairing or purchase a meal at the onsite cafe. Visit two other charming wineries for cellar-door tastings of the Yarra Valley’s cool-climate varietals, including chardonnay, pinot gris, pinot noir, and shiraz.

Your tour will conclude with the return drive to Melbourne, where you’ll be dropped off at your original departure point.

Had a great time. The coach was very comfortable, the bus driver and his co-pilot were extremely nice. He was a great driver and I felt at ease with his driving. Started with tea/coffee and biscuits first, got to visit some birds. Then went to Puffing billy, it was a really cool experience. The train ride is just enough to get cool pictures and not be bored of just sitting there. Then off to the Wine Tour portion. It was fun and I enjoyed it very much.

A wonderful opportunity for a group to enjoy themselves and get out of the city for the day. The tour is well worth the money when you see what you have experienced for the day. A great mix of touring with all the visits to the wineries, excellent lunch at Rochford Winery and the experience to ride on the Puffing Billy Steam Train. Our family enjoyed the trip very much!! The weather was great & to top it up, we had a great tour guide & driver, Peter!! He is very patient, knowledgeable, friendly & selfless. The group that went for the wineries were a fun bunch of people, making the trip even more enjoyable. This tour was awesome. The driver was great, who provided lots of information. We opted for the lunch as well. It was wonderful. Enjoyed the wineries, however the winery where we ate lunch was probably my least favorite as it pertains to the wine. The last location was the best. We actually bought a couple of bottles at location 2 and 3.

The office did a mistake with my pick up location so they called and said I can take a taxi and they give me the money for the ride. Then our tour guide Peter was well informed about the Dundenongs and Puffing Billy as he lives in this area. In the Dundenongs we enjoyed a Morning Tea with Scones before feeding Cockatoos. After that we drove half an hour with Puffing Billy wich was very amazing. In the afternoon we did a wine tasting in three totally different wineries which was a possibility to see something about the Yarra Valley.

Mark from AAT Kings was a great guide. He was hilarious and informative at the same time. Our first stop for tea was beautiful. They served us tea/coffee served with scones fresh out of the oven with cream and jam which was delicious. Puffing billy steam train also gives you wonderful sceneries. Lunch at Rochford winery was really good as well. The winetasting was also so much fun.
