Casablanca and Rabat Full-Day Tour was Spectacular!
, Jul 2019
Our family really enjoyed the Casablanca and Rabat Tour! Our tour guide, Abdel, was highly educated and brought us to some of the most historical and also beautiful sites in both cities. Most spectacular especially was seeing some of the most incredible religious architectural wonders which seem to highlight peace and community among the vast historical people of Morocco.
We went on the tour with little knowledge of Morocco and left Abdel's tour with significant understanding of Morocco's vast culture and history.
We are very thankful that we went on this tour. If you are considering going to Morocco, we highly recommend this tour.
There isn't much to see in Casablanca which is why two cities can be seen in one day. The highlight in Casablanca is the Hassan II Mosque. You will make use of every minute you are given to see this place. Don't skip the guided tour as a lot of information is shared. In Rabat, the highlights are the mosque Hassan Tower (minaret) and Mohammed V mausoleum. The are next to each other.
Our tour guide told us he would pick us up from the hotel, but ended up making us walk to meet him. The guide would ask a lot of questions and would not continue on the tour until everyone had participated, making it feel like school. If people gave answers he didnt like, he would get upset. We went to the mosque and then they drove us to Rabat. There was not much to see in Rabat, but they did not give us any information and instead had us stop at places each for an hour just to take pictures. Overall would not recommend.
Our guide Abdel met us at our pickup point (the oldest McDonalds in Casablanca) 30 minute before our van arrived which was about 20 minutes late due to heavy traffic. For the next 8 hours, Abdel introduced us and 3 other couples to these 2 cities. Highlights were the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca and the Mohammed V Mausoleum in Rabat. Abdel is very knowledgeable of both cities and provided informative introductions of all the sites visited. And he gave us ample time to stroll on our own; never once were we rushed. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious Moroccan meal. At the request of the couples, Abdel stopped at an argon oil shop where we learned about and purchased some oil products. Upon returning to Casablanca, we were dropped off at our hotel. Abdel is a professional, knowledgeable, courteous guide. Our driver was very conscientious and focused of the difficult task of driving in these 2 cities.
First, I want to make clear that both our driver and our guide were consumate professionals, friendly and eager to please. They were everything one hopes for when assigned a driver and guide. Consequently, my low rating has absolutely nothing to do with them and their performance. The fact is that the sights included in this tour aren’t all that interesting —at least to warrant the expenditure of time and money required for this tour. The ones in Casablanca could easily be done on one’s own and what was done in Rabat wasn’t worth the drive in my opinion.
The tour was wonderful. Abdel and Arab were an amazing tour guide and driver with a great deal of information to share. The whole day was fun and astonishing. We came here ready to like Morocco and now we love it.
Hicham truly made the day what it turned out to be! Both Casablanca and Rabat were interesting and beautiful, but the tips and information from Hicham were priceless. Hassan II Mosque was magical and it was amazing to see the modern conveniences entwined with a beautiful religious place of worship Small spoilers: Electrically heated floor and mechanical roof. Rabat has many historical locations that just make you wish you had access to a time machine! A real highlight for us happened around lunch. Hicham graciously gave us a barbecue recommendation in a Casablanca market. Who would have thought the way to get the best dromedary camel with one hump kebabs was to get raw meat from the butcher and then take it to a sidewalk restaurant?! Such a wonderful way to fit in highlights of two cities in one day!
