Your helicopter tour begins at the airport in South Lake Tahoe, where you’ll board a state-of-the-art, 3 passenger (plus the pilot) helicopter. Then take off on your chosen route, selected when booking. You have the choice of a 45-minute standard tour or one of two 30-minute tours that take in Sand Harbor on the lake’s east shore or waterfalls near the Desolation Wilderness.
Standard tour (45 minutes):
Fly north to the shore of Lake Tahoe, and then turn west to soar past Camp Richardson and beautiful Emerald Bay, one of the lake’s most beautiful and best-known natural sights. Head up the west shore of the lake past Meeks Bay and the town of Tahoe City, where you’ll veer east to pass over King’s Beach, Incline Village and the Cal-Neva Resort. Then head south to enjoy views of Cave Rock, Zephyr Cove and Stateline, where you can see the Nevada casinos.
Sand Harbor tour (30 minutes):
From South Lake Tahoe, zoom over to Stateline, crossing into Nevada and flying along the lake’s eastern shore, which is typically less developed and less visited. See Glenbrook Bay, Secret Harbor, Skunk Harbor and Chimney Beach, and then be wowed by Sand Harbor, the lake’s loveliest beach.
Waterfall tour (30 minutes):
From South Lake Tahoe, head over to Emerald Bay and Eagle Falls. Then soar over the rocky, dramatic landscape of the Desolation Wilderness, passing by Cascade Falls, Fallen Leaf Falls and Echo Lake. Enjoy a close-up view of Horsetail Falls’ 800-foot (244-meter) drop, and be wowed by the steep granite face of Lover’s Leap, a mini version of the granite peaks in Yosemite National Park.
